Just Back From POR - 9/27 Thru 10/4 MORE THAN JUST A VACATION-VALUABLE LESSONS

Great report! I feel like I know you and your family so well! I have 2 boys and a girl, in the same order as you do, so I really enjoyed living your vacation through your eyes...it felt like I was there! :earsboy:

We plan on staying at POR on our next visit. We can't wait!

GrumpyCAdad - It's been my pleasure. Isn't the 2boy/1girl thing perfect? I couldn't have planned it better. I see you're off to POR - ENJOY, I'm jealous.

Yes, but not until Nov 07. I am dying, I wish it were tomorrow!! You'll have to give me some good tips (buses and stuff) when it gets closer!

The thing about my daughter is she doesn't wear a costume, she becomes a princess. She walks differently, smiles differently, even instinctively holds her gown up in the front as she walks - too much!

Sorry, but I am just now finding this thread and I can soooo relate to this! As a matter of fact, we were at the same dinner that night at Norway. We ate there around 4:50 I think it was, right before catching the monorail for MK and MNSSHP. And oddly enough, my DD4 wore the Belle deluxe gown that night as well. I thought about ordering it from DW over the phone before we left, you know, just in case they ran out by the time we got there  but didnt want to pay that much either. Instead I ordered it off ebay for the exact same price once I paid for the shipping. :confused3

So I got your back, twotommygirl. We'll take on all the obnoxious pushy mom types together! BTW, we were a party of 8 and the two DHs in the group were diggin Jasmine that night as well.

Yet another BTW, we also stayed at POR at the same time that you were there. I think we all minded our ps and qs so I hope we don't have any starring roles in your report. :teeth: We don't fit any of the profiles so I guess we're good.

Love reading your report. I feel like I'm back there now. :goodvibes

twotommygirl (aka Fran)- I thought of you on Saturday evening. On Michigan Avenue Sat night Chicago had a Disney Parade and the lighting of the Magnificent Mile. I was able to secure an awesome spot along the railing, I asked an police officer where a good spot would be and if any good one's come available - he said at 5:05, we are closing Michigan Ave and we are removing these gates; then you will be able to stand in the middle of the street at those barriers. So I stayed close to him, at 5:05, our family walked to the new barrier, the parade wasn't going to pass us until 6:45, we stood there the whole time, and about 6:30, guess who shows up......you got it the casual cutters...

My hubby was standing behind me the whole time and he's a big guy, so every couple minutes, I would just lean on him for support, well I do my lean and to my surprise there is some women behind me shouting at me to get off of her. I told her "listen you casual cutter we've been here for over an hour, now let my husband back in his spot or I will just lean on you for the next hour". I think she saw the devil in me and she moved away. /end of hijack.

My point is that you gave me a new phrase and I will use it EVERY chance I get. Leah (Happy T-day)

I've been reading this report and following your trip antics for some time, and I have to say, I'm inspired to step back and enjoy my daughter for who she is, and that's one great kid! We're heading to WDW in Jan. (for dd's 9th b-day), and I can't wait for a week of no homework (she has get-out-of-homework-free passes for completing all of her homework in Sept., Oct., and Nov.), no instrument practicing, etc..... Seems like I'm constantly "on" her about completing all that she has to do that I forget to have fun and play!

Thanks for the wonderful reminder of how best to parent!
Leslie

:grouphug: Wow guys - I'm tickled pink that you all are still visiting here. Very cool!

GrumpyCAdad - Whatever you want to know, just ask!

PJV57 - THANX!

LaLa - That time sounds just about right! It seems so long ago now, I can't exactly remember. My daughter had on the "formal deluxe" gown. It was the red and gold one. But that is the Belle that was there that day, and yes, she should totally be in the yellow gown. Your daughter is beautiful. Were you, by chance, sitting right near the entrance? Just to the left, right past where Ariel was posing? And yes, that was one hot Jasmine!

Cindy's Mom - Good for you! I'm glad my phrase came in handy!

Keara'sMom - I know exactly what you mean! It is so nice to get away with them, without the burdens of home, and really enjoy them for who they are. You know, they are all great - as long as they have a good, loving parent behind them. All it takes is a little time. You go and enjoy every moment with her. It won't be long before they will be so wrapped up in their own lives. You know how fast it goes! Cherish every second - on vacation and at home!

AND TO YOU ALL, A WONDERFUL THANKSGIVING! PERFECT TIMING FOR THE END OF MY REPORT! I HOPE YOU ALL FULLY ENJOY AND RECONIZE ALL YOU HAVE TO BE THANKFUL FOR!

I loved reading your trip report! :)

On our last trip in January, it seemed as if everything went wrong. But you know what, it was the best trip ever. We all relaxed, took time to smell the roses, and who cares if we didn't get on every ride. This next trip I'm taking just my 2 youngest children and I can't wait. I won't be going on any of the big rides, and we'll have to move slowly, and we'll probably ride It's a Small World 10,000 times, but that's ok...I can't wait.

Twotommygirl-

Oh, I love that red Belle gown, it's very pretty. I'm sure your DD was just beautiful in it! Come to think of it, I think I remember seeing a little girl about my daughter's age in one of the red gowns and I remember thinking how cute she was. I'm sure she probably wasn't the only one wearing that outfit that night, but you never know....

Thanks about DD. She is definitely a girly girl. We were actually sitting off to the right after you come through the entrance. Don't know if you remember, but there is a really big archway off to the right that kind of goes off into another room. Well, we were at a big round table right smack dab in the middle of that archway. We had a good time. DS7 was with us as well, although you would never know it by any of the pics we took. He turned shy on us on a dime and refused to talk to, pose with, any of the hot women. We have some really cute video of him turning 3 shades of red and burying his head in his plate when Alice flirted with him. Cute stuff.

Well, I think you can clearly tell your trip report was a hit. Thanks for the memories. Sort of. :teeth:

Have a great Thanksgiving!

So sorry to see that the report is over :sad1: I have loved spencding time with your family and only hope you will go back to disney soon so that I can spend more time with you.
I think you have the right idea about what a vacation should be. Too often I turn into type A Commando when i could just be enjoying my children properly.
I might even throw that itinerary out the window...who am I kidding? :rotfl2:

Thanks again,
Claire xx
