Well, let me say a very special thank you to everyone at Disney for making a horrible ordeal bearable. We just got back from staying at Pop Century. We live in Alabama and we evacuated before Hurricane Katrina hit. We knew we had to evacuate and didn't know where to go, so we decided to go to our second home, Disney. They were especially nice and understanding with our last minute reservation and did everything they could to help us. We were able to board our dog, Maggie, at the kennels (something I've never done before) and they took great care of her. So many families had come in the same day for the hurricane from LA, MS and AL, all very weary and Disney stepped up and made us feel truly safe. As far as POP goes, I've never stayed at a Value resort (but given the circumstance, I really didn't care) but I was truly surprised. We loved it! We have stayed at the AKL, WL, GF, Port Orleans and CSR and I always said to my DH I would never try a Value, NEVER SAY NEVER! POP was great in every way and I'm no longer a deluxe snob. Same top notch service, same clean disney room and feel, great in everyway! Well we are back and thankfully, we had only a little damage and we just got our power back! We are truly blessed and I will never forget my last minute trip to Disney. My thoughts and prayers are with my friends to the west of us in MS and LA.

I am so glad to hear that you and your family (incld your dog!) are safe and sound and it is also nice to hear that Disney took such great care of you and other victims of Katrina. I hope all continues to go well! Hugs from me and my family in Idaho! :grouphug:

I am so glad you , your family and dog are safe .and that you enjoyed your stay at POP. I am so happy you are home and did sustain much damage
I love the values. I think they really have a lot to offer.
I use to think I would not the values until i stayed at the All Stars with my sis in 2002.
I love that resort now.

I am 55 years old and travel several times a year. I often stay at 4 star hotels.
So the deluxe resorts do not have anything special for me.
All Star is like being in the heart of the Magic and that is where I want to be.

I have visited WDW more than a dozen times with the 1st time in Oct. 1971. It was brand new. I've stayed at FW, Disney Inn, a few the of Hotels on hotel Blvd., CBR and the towers at the Contemporary. I got to see the MK from my balcony at the Contemporary and I'm happy I got to experience it once. I just prefer the All Star Resorts.
The theaming is pure Disney.
My last 4 visits have been at The All Stars and this fall when we take dd,dsil, and our grandson age 3 we are staying at the All Stars Music. I thought about AKL and even though we can well afford AKL I just wanted Alex to experience the Disney Magic :wizard: at the All Stars on his first visit.
Where else can one find Donald Duck or Mickey Mouse at the pool?
Have a great time at Disney!
