Just back from POP - Loved it!

The hurricane did not affect us. I loved everything about POP, the Hippy Dippy Pool, the 60's rooms, Everything POP, all the themed decorating at all the buildings, and the bus transportation! We waited 35 minutes for a bus from the Poly and never waited more than 7 minutes for a bus from POP. As a matter of fact, two mornings in a row a man came into our "queue" and had us call for the "next bus". A bus then showed up within 2 minutes. Bought ponchos the first day and returned them the last day because we didn't need them (it sprinkled every now and then but only had one storm that delayed us about 1 hour).

I would absolutely stay at the POP again. We stayed in the 60's on the 4th floor. No sound at all from our neighbors with the exception of an occasional door closing.

I only found 4 flaws in total and 2 were more than minor:

1. I heard the Pointer Sister's JUMP more than I wanted to.

2. The playdough coming out of the mold didn't look real (ha!)

3. I tried to charge $18 in food but only $15 left on my credit so they would not let me. This really was an issue because I had no cash or credit card on me. I thought there should have been a warning that I was close, OR, they should have let me go over by $3 and told me to pay on the account.

4. I received a voicemail the day before we left saying a statement would be hanging on the door by 8:00. At 8:05 I called because we were ready to drive away (not that I wanted to you understand...). No apologies for not having the statement, just told to come to the front desk. They said there was no line. 5 - 10 minutes later I come to the desk and there are 20 people in line. I nicely cut in line and got my statement.

Thanks for the report. How was the air conditioning? Was it cool enough in the room?

Were the pools crowded?

Thanks,
Tink

We like it quite cool so we were surprised to see that 71 was as low as we had to go to keep it where we wanted it.

The Hippy Dippy pool was the most crowded but there was plenty of room and I don't believe all the chairs were taken. The bowling pin and computer pools were not busy at all.

We loved the Mickey soap and shampoo. I liked it a lot better than the dispensers they have at the All-Stars.

Each day Mousekeeping did something different with my daughters Disney stuff (which included blankets, pillows, barbies, stuffed animals, and hats). They were always excited to get back to the room.

Thanks!! Reading this made me more excited for our upcoming trip... I can't wait!

Do the busses at the Pop share with the other value resorts?? How long of a trip to DTD??

We are planning a quick weekend trip in Dec for Xmas shopping and was told that the Pop was the closest on-site value resort to DTD.

Thanks for the reply about the AC and pools. I heard guests decorate the front windows of their room at Pop with toys and other things that everyone passing by is able to see. Do I have this info correct? Is this something exclusive to Pop or do quests who stay at all resorts with outside doors do this? What a cute idea.

If you are talking about what I think you are, it isn't the guests, I have stayed at ASMu twice, and several times I came back to the room and Mousekeeping had taken one of my chairs, draped a towel over it, put it in the window with my plush Mickey and Pooh and closed the sheer drapes around it, and sometimes they tied the sheer curtains together to make a swing type thing and put Mickey in it. If that is what you are talking about, it is Mousekeeping, and not guests, and it must be at more than Pop, as I was at ASMu.

I don't recall how long it took to get to each place, but MGM was the shortest trip and MK was the longest. It didn't take long to get to DTD either. AK was longer because we stopped at BB on the way to and from. Saratoga Springs is the closest resort to DTD (you can walk) but I am not sure if this resort is still only for DVC members or not.

The Cast members decorated the windows at POP, but no reason why the guests can't do it as well. There were lots of decorated windows at POP.

From POP it is a little over 5 minutes, though technically the bus drives say "about 10-12" minutes. No distances are drastic if staying onsite, no matter what park or location you get to!

I have a couple of questions... Where in the 60's did you stay and did you have alot of noise from your neighbors? Also, has the parking gotten any better... I have a preferred room booked Dec 3-11 and was wondering........

101 days till the Pop

We stayed on the 4th floor in front of the pool. Only noise was an occasional door shutting.

Parking was not nearly as bad as we anticipated. We parked in the 70's parking lot (at least it used to be 70's but I believe it may be called the 90's now) which is the lot closest to the checkin parking. We were able to get close spots so we lucked out. We tried the 60's parking at first but it was too crowded and too far away.

Yes, ASFCurly, that is what I'm talking about. So it's mousekeeping - similar to the towel animals you see on a Disney cruise. Thanks for the info.
