Just back from POP -- here's my 2 cents:

We just spent 7 nights at POP and really had a great time!

Here are my thoughts about this resort, just coming off the top of my head:

We had a GREAT location! The room number was 3134, in the 50's section. We were in the back, facing Hourglass Lake - what a pretty view!

Every morning, we had ducks and some sort of huge cranes eating out of my girls' hands.

We could watch the sunset from there, as well as fireworks from Epcot and MGM! It was very quiet back there, not much foot traffic at all.

We were about 100 steps from the bowling pin pool - - not bad at all! The kids LOVED that pool, even though the Hippy Dippy pool is hyped more.

The room was LITTLE! OMG, it was by far the smallest hotel room we've ever stayed it. But not spending too much time there made that bearable.

We were less than impressed with Mousekeeping. We tipped faithfully every day ($4-5 a day in cute little envelopes decorated with Disney stickers), and yet the toilet was OBVIOUSLY not cleaned well 2 days in a row (I won't go into detail), there were things on the floor that didn't get picked up by the vacuum, and we never got a towel animal (except for the one in the room when we arrived).

The food court was awesome. Good prices, great selections, very tasty food! We were thrilled to find half gallons of milk for our POP-swap fridge - LOL! As well as fresh fruit! HOWEVER.........the tables were not cleaned between sittings, and more often than not, the garbage cans were overflowing.

The walls must be made of paper. We could hear every shower, every toilet flush, every sink running around us. We could hear voices quite easily as well.

The beds were very comfy, and we loved the pillows too. We asked for extra pillows, and they were sent right over. The sheets weren't changed every day, which puzzled us. (we know this because DD9 had a bloody nose - not bad - one night, and they didn't change the sheets until we called back and requested it; and a couple days later my other DD lost a tooth and there was blood on her pillowcase)

The transportation system worked out great for us! We never waited too long, coming or going.

That's all I can think of! If anyone has any questions, I'll try to answer them!

That was a very fair review. You can certainly tell you were'nt being bias. I haven't stayed at POP but will in Jan. I have stayed at ASMo twice and had similar issues as you both negative and positive.

All in all, I think it's still well worth the price. Without those budget locations, I may stay off site. The food court choices are very nice and pools are wonderful but being DIS, I'd like to see professional service no matter where you stay at DIS. When you pay more for a room, your buying room size, resturant choices, location etc, not cleaner rooms and less sounds of toilets flushing.

By the way, in our two past trips to ASMo, we never got a towell animal. Not once. (tipping as usual)

thanks! We're heading down to POP Sept 20th and it will be our 1st on nite stay...thanks for the review!

Thanks for the review. This will be our 3rd time at POP. We Love Pop and have always stayed back by the lake. I agree with the walls, I once heard a kid singing in the shower in the next room, lol!

I did notice that you could hear noise from adjoining rooms. I will just keep my fingers crossed for quiet neighbors!;) We're heading back to Pop end of the month and we're really worried about staying there again because we had such HORRIBLE experiences with the bus service on our last stay.:sad2: From what I've seen lately though, it seems like there has been improvement there, so that takes the nerve off a bit.:rolleyes1

Good and fair review! I think for a few years now, sheets get changed every 3 or 4 days at all WDW hotels, unless you make a special request or actually remove the sheets from the bed...seems weird to have the bed made up with stained sheets, but I've had it happen too (not just at values). Some good suggestions I've read and used for the noise is keeping the bathroom door closed and putting a rolled up towel by connecting door. I love Pop and have been visiting for lunch and the gift shop even when not staying there :)

Thanks for the review we are heading down there next month. We too are planning on staying on the backside facing the lake. I'm a little worried about all the noise you can hear. I guess I'll just have to warn my kids absolutely no fighting or yelling while in the room.
I'm hoping they will be too tired anyway.

Thank you so much for your review. It was well written. We are staying here with our six children for the first time in Sept! I am very excited. (they are too-lol)

When we stayed at POFQ we still heard the toliets flush showers run etc the same as at POP and Sports. I've noticed that same noise in every hotel we have ever stayed in. I've come to accept it as a fact for hotel stays an something I tolerate. Usually at disney we so tired the noise doesn't keep us awake, sometimes I do hear showers for a bit before our wake up call comes but not to often.

We LOVE POP

I am confused by your comment on tipping housekeeping; did you think you would get better service by leaving a tip? You should expect a clean room everyday whether or not you leave anything for the maids, as they do not work for tips. If the room is not clean to your satisfaction you should call the front desk and tell them.

As for the sheets being changed, I don't think they normally change sheets until the end of your stay unless you request it. The thinking is, most people don't change their sheets at home everyday so why expect it in a hotel?

I agree about the rooms being small! It was a shock after staying at CBR. Although I stayed in a very upscale hotel in New Orleans (for a much higher price than Pop) in a room considerably smaller than Pop, if you can believe it!

We loved the 50's section also. We were on the third floor (Tramp bldg.) just around the corner from the elevator. A quick ride down and we were at the pool! Great location.

Glad you had a great trip!

We love Pop, too. Glad you enjoyed your stay. I liked your review.

We're counting the days until 7/25. We can't wait!

I believe the sheets are not changed every day in an effort to conserve water. Many hotels have policies like that. I'm sure that millions of gallons of water are saved but not changing the sheets at WDW everyday. (And lots of energy is not used in drying them.) That said however, soiled sheet should always be changed.

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Thanks for the review. All of the value resorts look like they are alot of fun!
I am trying to talk DH into a quick December trip!:confused3

I very recently read a tip that suggested putting the rolled-up towel between the connecting doors. Just remember to remove it before you check out - otherwise, somewhere down the road, there's sure to be a review saying, "Yuck! We opened the connecting doors between our rooms and there was a rolled-up towel in there!"

Sheets: yes, these last few posters are correct, it's an energy-saving measure. There should have been a card in the room explaining this, and what to do if you wanted clean sheets every day. Think about it - how many of us change our sheets at home daily?

Towel animals: Sometimes yes, sometimes no. The tip doesn't affect it, it's more based on the Mousekeeper's ability and available time.

Overall cleanliness: Absolutely if the room isn't cleaned to your satisfaction, call Housekeeping!!!

Well, let me clarify. I think that tipping does sometimes lead to extra special touches. I guess I was wrong - LOL! We did call to let them know that the toilet hadn't been appropriately cleaned, and they did it while we were out that night.

And I guess I was clueless about the sheets. Every hotel I've ever stayed in changed the sheets every day. I understand and respect the new policy, but if sheets/pillowcases have blood or stains on them, they should be changed. I certainly do change the kids' sheets at home if they have a bloody nose!

But these were picky little things. Nothing that would stop us from staying there again!

We just stayed in the POP in June, also in the 50s building. I never knew you could se fireworks!! Oh well. Our room was cleaned. OUr sheets got changed when kids smeared chocolate doughnuts on them:rolleyes1 We did have mousekeeping help with little surprises. I left new stuffed animals onthe beds after kids left the room, mousekeeping used them to decorate the windowsill. They also made a cute display on the pillows when I left a note and new PJs on the bed. However, one day one of our ponchos got thrown away. We had left them spread out to dry. When we noticed one was gone, hubby told frontdesk and they credited us one from the gift shop. :) Very nice since ours were cheap dollar store ones and we got a mickey one to replace it.

Thanks for the review, we are staying there for the first time in October. I keep trying to be very excited about it for DD, she picked it over AKL for her birthday. I will be at WDW so what else should matter?

Hi and thanks for the review. We arrive at POP on Aug. 21. I can't wait.
We have 2 standard rooms. Is the 50's building standard or preferred?

if you want sheets changed, just remove them from the bed. Usually, it's every four days, unless you take them off the bed.

Thanks for your review. We're going there in late August. As far as the sheets go, as previously posted they're not changed on a daily basis due to, in part, Florida's ongoing drought conditions. That's been the policy for many years. There should have been a card somewhere in the room attesting to this, and also requesting that you use your bath towels a couple of days before getting new ones, although if you want fresh towels every day (like us) then you leave the wet towels on the bathroom floor. Not having our sheets changed daily is not a big deal for us, however, since there was dried blood on yours then they SHOULD have been changed for sanitary reasons, if nothing else. Overall, though, it sounds like you had a typical hotel experience with nothing overly unpleasant or out of the ordinary happening, which is good to know. And because you enjoyed it so much I think I'm going to request the 50's building, 4th floor, looking at hourglass lake. Sounds VERY pretty (and we like the duck and crane thing).
