any questions?
Yes, we met Tyler. He is a very helpful and nice man. (And he can spell)

Whereabouts did you stay in Pop Century? Would you recommend it?

We're not sure what area to request when we go there in March (we're not staying in preferred) so would be grateful for any suggestions!

We stayed in the 50s section. We enjoyed it. We are in our fifties so we really loved the 50s music at the pool.
It was a short walk for food and buses. We were on the first floor of building A.
At night we found going up to the fourth floor in some of the buildings gave us a great view of EPCOT fireworks.
The food court seemed crowded all the time.
The location of Pop Century is close to all Disney parks and Downtown Disney. Much closer to everything than All Stars.
I would be hapopy to answer any other questions you have.

We were there last weekend in the 50's section. I don't know the building #, ( room # was 1317, smoking optional) but it was the closest wing to the food court. We were actually closer than the preferred building! We really enjoyed the resort. It was crowded at times in the food court, but I didn't think it was that bad! I became addicted to the blue frozen drinks and definately got my moneys worth on the mug!! I enjoyed walking around the resort and the pathway around the lake. Buses were great! I was thrilled to see the line areas - no more people running up at the last minute and getting in front of you!! They should have these at all of the resorts!! I would probably stay there again although my DD still likes the All-stars better.:)

I just can't wait to visit the Pop Century.

Thanks for the information....

For those of you who stayed in the 50's Building @ Pop Century , are there rooms close to the parking lot? We travel with a handicapped friend & we need to be close to his van due to his medical equipment. Thanks Cathie & The gang

Hi, thanks for taking questions! We are leaving in a few shorts weeks for the Pop. I am wondering how long does it take to get to the parks on the buses? The last time we were there we took the car everyday because our son was 7 months and it seemed to make more sense with all the stuff we were carting around. Anyway, this time we will be using Disney transportation and I am trying to plan out the days and wondering how much time should we plan on traveling during the day? Thanks so much for any info. Chris.

I just got back from a stay at POP myself and enjoyed it immensely!!! And yes, I was another guest assigned to the 50s building! I was a bit disappointed at first since I asked the CM at the front desk for availability in the 70s building, but having a room in the 50s building ready when I checked in at 7:15am(!) more than made up for it. I was expecting to have to leave my bags with luggage assistance, instead I was able to go to my room, unpack, get refreshed, and manage to get to AK for EMH. :D

Unlike nowellsl, my room was in building B of the 50s, in the wing FURTHEST AWAY from the Classic Hall and Food Court. There are 3 buildings that make up the 50s, and bldg B is at a location disadvantage to the Classic Hall. The walk/distance isn't too bad, but I did feel jealous at all the other 50s guests who were a lot closer to the Food Court than I was. :D

cathie, for the 50s section, buildings A & B are closest to the parking lots. However, another thread about POP parking mentions that the handicap spaces were usually occupied. You may want to prepare for the possibility of having to drop your friend off at the curb and have someone park the van in a non-handicap space. I think Tyler mentioned that there are further plans to improve the parking, but it may take some time.

Overall, I really enjoyed POP. It was a fun place to stay and it was nice to stay in someplace NEW. The food court was usually busy, but the lines moved quickly. And unlike others, I LOVED the brand new fluffy pillows. Ahhhh...they helped me sleep very well indeed!

The handicapped spaces were full while we were there, but I found a parking spot in front and stayed there for our entire stay. We used the buses and found them quite satisfactory! Driving times varied of course depending on where we were going, but it didn't seem to be long. It was nice not having to stop at any other resorts to pick up more passengers. I definately recommend the 50's building - it's closer to the parking lot than the 60's.

We just got back from staying at POP and to answer your question about travel time to the parks:
The farthest park was the MK and we timed it at 15 minutes. The others were much shorter. We love the bus service, would never think of using a car when staying on site.

We'll be staying at Pop in March... We've requested "preferred", so does anyone know which building that is? It sounds like the 50's is pretty close to the main bldg w/ food court, etc... Is that it? Also, how was the noise level? We stayed at AS Sports last summer in "preferred", but I regretted it because it was so loud every night (we were first floor, facing main pool) when we were trying to get some sleep.

Thanks for the info...!
:D

I believe the preferred buildings are the 60's. The building we were in (A in the 50's) was actually closer because we were at the end of the wing closest to the food court. The sixties do face the main pool (the one shaped like a flower) while the 50's faced the bowling pin pool. The 50's is also closer to the parking lot. I think if you want a guarantee that you'll be close to the food court/buses you should stick with the preferred. You can always request the 50's but you won't be sure of a room there. I was thrilled to get the 50's because the alternative was the 90's which is a good little walk from the food court. (those were the 2 sections we were offered when we got there) :p
