just got back from the renovated hawaiian building. everything was pretty good. lounge has a refrigerator in it now. pretty cool. tv's are awesome. we had adjoining rooms and the doors were painted shut. took a football block to unstick them, but overall it was great. any questions???

We have a garden view concierge booked for this Friday......any suggestions as to a room number? We'd like non-smoking and close to the lounge. How was the concierge staff?

The refrigerator is new since we were there two weeks ago! Where in the lounge is it located and what is in it.....soda pops and water?

Glad you had a good trip. Did you tell anyone about the connecting door? We were the first guests in a room after the redo and our hall door stuck a little the first morning too.

the fridge is in a nook of the wall, where i think there was a vase. it was new about friday night, i think. they had soda in there only.

I keep hearing about the Poly being the hot-bed for problems with concierge ettiquette. Did you find this? A couple of posters recently wrote that it wasn't good there because of the behavior of other guests. Your report makes it sound very nice. We're planning on trying the Poly this January and was wondering if it was a good idea to do the concierge--I think we'd do garden view, but I'm leaning toward going with a standard view and just eating at Ohana's and other places in the area (at the monorail resorts and WL's Artist Pointe-yum) rather than concierge.

What did you think? :goodvibes :sunny: :flower:

We returned yesterday from a 9 night stay. The food in the lounge was pretty good. In the evenings, from what I remember we had pulled pork and potato salad, macaroni and cheese and caesar salad, sushi, beef skewers and fried rice, chicken wings and fried rice, ribs and pasta/furit salad. There was also always uncrustables, cheese and crackers, vegetables and dip, pineapple and caramel sauce and hummus with pitas. Wine was available to serve yourself and you had to ask for beer.

We found the lounge at times to be very noisy and crowded. There were a lot of kids that were unsupervised (running around/very noisy (i.e. screaming not just happy child noises) as their parents sat and talked. There also seem to be toom many tables which made it hard at times to walk to your table while carrying a plate. The view of the castle is nice though and the staff were friendly and helpful. Overall we enjoyed ourselves but found that we prefer the more sedate concierge environment of the Grand Floridian and AKL (I think it is the lower number of conceirge guest and more open lounges that appeal to us).

We didn't have any problem with the lounge. Food was plentiful, and there was room to sit when we went. We had a split stay at the yc and poly and the yc concierge staff was head and shoulders more friendly than the poly. actually, all the staff at the yc seemed more cheerful and helpful than the poly. at first, i attributed it to the fact that the poly concierge desks are in an area where you dont have to walk directly in front of them or maybe there were more guests being helped, but no. we would walk into the hawaiian building and get not even a hello for the most part, even with two or three of them sitting at their desks. at the yc, it was always a cheerful have a great day or welcome back. a huge difference. i am sure others may have different opinions, but it was night and day difference. we still had a great time though. and again the lounge and new rooms were great.

We were at the Poly Concierge a week and a half ago. I found the lounge to be busy at times, other times it was quite.

There is a small lounge on the 3rd floor that is quieter. Lots of times I would sit there.

This is Disney and there are lots of kids, sometimes I found breakfast to be hectic other then that I always found the concierge to be a refuse from the main lodge that can be a zoo.

Kirbsam, I'm sorry to hear about the staff at the Poly, when you are paying for concierge yoiu deserve better treatment! We are staying concierge for the first time in April, I hope the attitude doesn't continue. I'm glad you didn't let it ruin your trip!!!

Cara, it didnt ruin our trip at all. In fact, we stayed there in January 2004, and it was the same thing then. We only noticed it this time because of the stellar workers at the yacht club. So, I don't think they did anything wrong. They were just not in the same league as the yacht club staff.
