DH (meuseman on the Dis) and I stayed at POFQ from 1/28-1/31 and had an absolutely fabulous stay!!! We arrived at about noon and we able to check in and get a room right away and even got our first choice, Building 5. Our room was so nice, clean and spacious. We stayed at WL, GF and Poly on our honeymoon and were "spoiled" but this resort blew me away. I was definitely pleasantly surprised. It was so quiet and peaceful. We got great AP rates which made it even better. We kept saying to each other that we could not believe we were staying at such a nice resort for $79/night (plus tax). We were a short walk to the food court to fill our mugs. Everything about our stay was wonderful and we look forward to ruturning to POFQ real soon :sunny:

We stayed there for the first time in December and we're now huge fans! It was very quiet and tranquil and as you mentioned, the rooms were tastefully decorated, clean and spacious. We loved the boat ride to DTD and saw fireworks (I'm guessing from Illuminations-not quite sure) from the boat on the way back to the resort. We loved it so much I'm having a hard time trying a different resort for our next stay!

You sound like us after our last trip...which was our first time staying at POFQ. We fell in love with it! We are so excited to be heading back there this Sunday!!!! :cloud9:

That is wonderful to hear. We are staying at POFQ in 3 days. Can't wait.

Am happy to hear all this great stuff about it too....I will be there on Friday.

I'm so glad to hear this. Now if the AP rates will just hurry up and come out for May I might beable to persuade DH to extend our stay!

From reports like these, it sounds like POFQ is a great resort. We'll be there during Spring Break and can't wait. Thanks for the report.

Bob Jackson over at POR says they now have a live entertainer at POFQ. Check it out !! :smooth:

I've never stayed there...but have heard nothing but GREAT things about this resort! I do recall, Birnbaum's guide referring to this property as a "DELUXE for the PRICE OF A MODERATE." Did you feel it was comparable to a DELUXE property? What type of "view" did you have? Did you experience a lot of people walking past your window/door, etc.? How's the decor & amenities? Thanks for your input.

POFQ definitely has the feel of a deluxe. As I mentioned, we have APs so we were able to get the room for $79/night plus tax, which for three nights the total for our stay at POFQ was about equal to one night at GF LV. We had a standard view at POFQ but in my opinion it was beautiful. There are no private balcony's there but we would stand outside our room that overlooked the courtyard with a fountain and to the right we could see the river....very beautiful. We were in room #5344 if that helps. I thought this resort was extremely quiet...I mean so quiet that we did not hear a door open or close, a toilet flush or any conversation. I don't know if this is "typical" or if it was just because we were there during a less crowded time. I didn't notice anyone walking past our door/window and I kept the blinds open for part of the time. The decor is so tasteful. We thought the rooms were super. The beds were very comfortable....more so than the beds we had at WL.....the bathroom area is large with two sinks, two mirrors and a nice ledge for your toiletries. The toilet and shower are off the sink area with a door....the sink area has a curtain that you can pull to seperate it from the beds.....TV was very large (DH was impressed!!)......we were super close to the food court so that was really nice and convenient. The pool was really nice!! We did not use it but look forward to when we return. Hope this helps!!

I've never stayed at a deluxe, but I can answer some of your other questions. Before I do, I'll say the only deluxe resort DH and I are anxious to try is the Wilderness Lodge. We're planning a trip in October and are considering it, but when I priced out FQ it's hard to go up to a deluxe when we loved this resort so much. We've also thought about trying POR, but again, hard to stay somewhere else when you know what you're getting for your money.
We did not request any special room as our last trip was spur of the moment and a budget trip. We had a room facing the parking lot (although there was a nice courtyard between our room and the lot) and people walking by was never a problem. No noise...a very short walk to and from the bus stop, boat dock, food court, gift shop...everything was so close which is great if you have young children or seniors with you.
We live about 45 minutes outside of New Orleans and I thought the architecture and theming was right on. The iron railings, colors, brick walkways, landscaping and lanterns...everything was reminiscent of New Orleans. The emphasis on the carnival season in the room decor, lobby and pool were all tastefully done.
We didn't have a fridge when we got there, but I called Guest Services and we received one that evening.
The only complaint that I had was that we couldn't stay longer :)

This is true, and he is great. We were there 1/18-1/21 and saw him a couple nights. His name is Elliot and he is a great entertainer. He plays lots of different instruments, sings, takes requests. Very nice. We had a great time. He told us he plays Wed-Sat.

Sounds just wonderful!!! We are considering this hotel for our stay in April. Can you tell me where to request a room for our stay. We have 2 kids (4 & 7) and want to be close to bus, pool and food if possible. So what do you think??

i hate reading this great stuff! because now i am all conflicted all over again! i thought we had finally chosen our resort (the dolphin because we have AAA and starwood points which would get us a great rate and an upgrade; w/maybe our last two nights at AKL at ds's begging request) but now i am re-thinking it all over again as POFQ has been hovering near the top of my list all along! OH THE AGONY OF PICKING A RESORT!! (and no, i don't think i will get dh to switch resorts more than once, if i can even get him to agree to switching once! LOL!)

thanks for the info though... i really do appreciate it, even if i agonize! LOL!

I am going to call today and request Building 5 or 2. Hope I get my request.

doodlebug- you are at the right resort to be close to everything! POFQ is very compact and you are never a far walk from anything. That is one reason we love it so! Here is a link to a map of the resort:

We have stayed in building 3 two times and love it! Great location- not a far walk to anything. It looks like buildings 3, 4, 5, and 2 will be closest to the bus stop and food court, with buildings 7 and 1 being the furthest away. Still, I wouldn't imagine they would be too long of a walk though. I'm not sure which buildings- or floors of buildings- are smoking. I know before the renovations part of building 4 was smoking- but I'm not sure since the renovations. I requested a building close to the bus stop and the cm was very friendly and accomidating at check in. Good luck! You will love this resort!!! princess:

We stayed in bldg #5 last time, and requested it this time too. We really liked that location. :)

We are checking in in 21 days for our first trip to WDW and WE CAN'T WAIT!!! :Pinkbounc Threads like these get me more excited and sure that we made the right decision to book the POFQ. We did decide to split our stay and stay at POFQ 5 nights, WL 3 nights because of the codes. I hope we won't regret switching because POFQ sounds so wonderful!
