I've never stayed there...but have heard nothing but GREAT things about this resort! I do recall, Birnbaum's guide referring to this property as a "DELUXE for the PRICE OF A MODERATE." Did you feel it was comparable to a DELUXE property? What type of "view" did you have? Did you experience a lot of people walking past your window/door, etc.? How's the decor & amenities? Thanks for your input.
I've never stayed at a deluxe, but I can answer some of your other questions. Before I do, I'll say the only deluxe resort DH and I are anxious to try is the Wilderness Lodge. We're planning a trip in October and are considering it, but when I priced out FQ it's hard to go up to a deluxe when we loved this resort so much. We've also thought about trying POR, but again, hard to stay somewhere else when you know what you're getting for your money.
We did not request any special room as our last trip was spur of the moment and a budget trip. We had a room facing the parking lot (although there was a nice courtyard between our room and the lot) and people walking by was never a problem. No noise...a very short walk to and from the bus stop, boat dock, food court, gift shop...everything was so close which is great if you have young children or seniors with you.
We live about 45 minutes outside of New Orleans and I thought the architecture and theming was right on. The iron railings, colors, brick walkways, landscaping and lanterns...everything was reminiscent of New Orleans. The emphasis on the carnival season in the room decor, lobby and pool were all tastefully done.
We didn't have a fridge when we got there, but I called Guest Services and we received one that evening.
The only complaint that I had was that we couldn't stay longer
