I will be posting a brief "resort report" here sometime in the next week, but in the meantime, are there any questions I can answer about Port Orleans French Quarter?

We're going in 1 1/2 weeks, so I would love to know:
  • if the hot tub is crowded from POR overflow
  • if POFQ has its own buses or shares with other resorts
  • if it's better to take boat or bus to DTD
  • if there really is nightly entertainment at Scat Cats

That's all I can think of at the moment. Thanks!

Ciao,
Mort.

Welcome back DisneyJade! We will be there in May and I am so excited. Anything you can tell me would be good. What building did you stay in? Did you have a hard time getting your requests met? We always have a hard time and the only thing we requested this time was building 1, top floor, with a river view if possible. Is PO/FQ as lovely as I have heard? Do the busses still pick up there before Riverside? All in all did you enjoy your stay there? Thank you ahead of time for any info you can give. I can't wait to read your resort report.

Are they keeping the pool warm enough to swim in as the temperatures continue to hover in the low to mid sixties......?

Just want to hear anything good you have to say.
Wondering about the pool temps also.
Would love to have an afternoon relaxing swim.

Mort,
I will be there same time as you.
Are you as excited as me?:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Can't wait!

We will be there in March, cannot wait. This is our first stay at FQ, have previously stayed at DL, CB, and WL.

What buildings are fartheset from Bus Stop and Food Court (which ones would you avoid).

Where is the hot tub, cannot find it on the maps? Did you do laundry while there, was it crowded in, all the machines working?

And is there entertainment at the Lounge?

Thanks for your help.

:D

Mort: --didn't visit the hot tub b/c our schedule was so packed, but I did notice the pool was crowded even on cold days, and even though it was off-season. --- POFQ shares buses with PORiverside, but you are first on the route both GOING AND COMING from the parks, so you should have no problems (we LOVED the bus system) --- Didn't take boat to DTD b/c it was cold (we're wimps from Southern Arizona), but it is probably no longer of a trip than by bus (which took 25-30 minutes) --- NO entertainment at Scat Cat Lounge (maybe because it was off season?) Overall, I was dissappointed with the lounge (more in my upcoming Resort Report)

DisneyFreaks: --We were in building two (great location) --- our requests were met, but all we asked for was a corner room with a courtyard view. You may have more luck asking for a courtyard view than a river view... it's very very pretty and almost EVERY room has a courtyard view. -- POFQ is gorgeous!! I was pleasantly suprised at how lush and classy the whole place lloked (more details in upcoming trip report)

Old School: --pool looked very warm. At night, heavy steam came off of it, like a hot tub (but we never got in)

LoveMickey: -- Honestly, every building is close to everything compared to other moderate resorts. you really can't go wrong. But for the very most convenient location... avoid buildings 6 and 7. they are a little further out. --- Didn't see the laundry, sorry. --- No scat cat entertainment (see above) --- the hot tub is in the pool area, but it's kind of disguised... it's easy to find once you get there... just go to the back of the pool area.

Hope that helps!!! and Hope you all have wonderful trips!!! My Resort Report should be up by this weekend!!!

Thanks for the info. I guess I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed that they re-open the POR pool early.

Mort.

All your information really helps. We have paid for a waterview but if we get the pool I guess that will be okay too. The pool there looks terrific. I will be anxiously waiting to read your report. Thanks again.

The pictures of FQ look really nice. I downloaded one of the 'clam shell' at night, and I look at it every day. :D

Thanks for all the info.

Time is really dragging now that it's getting close. It's all I can do to not start packing... :jester:

We're almost there!!! It's time to start thinking about faxing over room requests - do you have any advice? Is there an building that is easiest to get to from the parking lot with 2 strollers?
We won't be using the bus, so being close to the bus stop is not necessary. Any suggestions on what to avoid or to request would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks,

Hopefully I can fill in a gap or two...

When we were down in December - keep in mind it was the week between Christmas and New Years...

The hot tub was ALWAYS crowded.

The pool was "warm"... but, to me, not warm enough. There always has to be a part of your body out of the water... and whichever part that may be... it froze!

I didn't do laundry, but did seek out the laundry room our last night there, to dry our towels. It was empty. The laundry room is behind the pool bar (maybe in the same building, but on the side opposite the pool). Hot tub was in the same general area.

We REALLY loved the location of our room - 5125 - it had a water view (but since I paid for a standard view, I don't know how it's classified). It was at the end of the building and VERY quiet, but a close walk to the food court.

Pool temp: I hear it's 85. Explains why I saw kids in pools at POFQ and POR in January...

Hot tub: Wasn't crowded when I was there a couple of weeks ago (and I was visiting from POR).

Bob Jackson: Isn't at Scat Cat's but at POR River Roost, Weds thru Saturday nights. Walk or bus over. It's worth it.

Cheers!
