We just returned from POFQ.
We had 2 rooms and got exactly what we requested-connecting rooms in building 5.
We have stayed at POP, CSR, BW, BC, GF, AKL, POR, WL, and All stars before. POFQ is one of our favorites. I would stay here again before CSR or any value resort. I would even consider it before a Deluxe based on the price.
We loved the pool area and pool bar. There is a really nice place to sit by the pool bar and still be close to the pool.
We loved the theme-the iron rails, the New Orleans streets, the beignets (Yummy and cheap), the jazz music playing quietly.
I also loved the quiet of the resort. I think this was the quietest resort we have ever stayed at.

I loved the pool area and the pool itself. The slide is a little small but my DD9 liked it because she could go up and down so quickly without a long line or hike up the stairs. So she went up and down all day.

The food court was good. It is smaller than POPs but it had all the essentials and everything we tried was good. We didn't eat there a lot.

They had live music at the bar-Scat Cats- Wed. thru Sat. from 8 pm to midnight. We loved this. Kids are welcome, but we sat there while my teenager watched the kids one evening. It was really nice. I know POR has this, but I don't think any Deluxe has live music like this. We absolutely loved it. It felt like vacation.

We loved walking along the river also.

The rooms are not big, but we knew that going in. The room was fine. I thought the window AC would bother me, but it didn't bother us at all. Everything was in working order.

I loved how close the pool and food court was to our room.
It was very quaint and safe feeling.

Mousekeeping was okay. When we checked in at 2:00 pm our rooms were ready-that was great. I have found that Disney housekeeping is quite lacking even at the Deluxes, so I always bring my own clorox wipes and expect to clean the room. We needed to here as well. I would love to be the people in the room after us. We clean everything in the room.

There was some dust webs on the light fixture above the beds and some Cheerios on the floor by bed, but other than that it was just the same old lack of a good cleaning.
We have this same issue at the deluxes as well. The rooms were cleaned everyday at a good time and were vacuumed each day. I think after we got the rooms good and clean, it was fine.

I am not sure if I am just really picky about cleanliness or Mousekeeping needs more training or Disney is just cutting corners by having the maids clean too many rooms to really do a good job, but this is at all of their resorts at all levels.

Overall, I loved POFQ and will stay there again. We are booked at AKL in June and we are really thinking about switching to POFQ and getting 2 rooms again. We can't really get 2 rooms at a deluxe, so this was nice.

The main thing I miss from the deluxes is interior corridors and a balcony.

If anyone has questions, let me know.

So glad to hear good things about POFQ! For the past couple of weeks there have been some poor reviews. We are not staying there in the near future ourselves but I am sending some relatives there in June for their very first trip. They are in their 50's w/ a 8 yr old grandson so I thought POFQ being quiet, small with one bus stop would be perfect.

This sounds great. We will be there Sept 27 thru Oct 5 and can't wait. Thanks for the good review.

Thank you for the great review. We are staying there for the first time in 4 weeks and I am really excited for it! We also requested connecting rooms in building 5. Were you facing the pool or the other side? Did you find the pool area to be noisy in the afternoon? We will be coming back from the parks in the afternoon so the kids (2 and 3) can nap and I am hoping it is not too noisy and they can sleep.

Also, how were the buses? We have the first reservation of the day for CRT and Princess Storybook Breakfast, so I am hoping it won't be too difficult getting a bus that early.

Thanks!

Glad you had a great stay! We love FQ and can't wait to go back someday. We'll be checking in at Pop tomorrow for a budget trip.

Hi! You have reassured me! About an hour ago I had to change my reservation for next month from Pop Century to POFQ (long story!!) and I have been really worried but you review was great!!

Can I just ask you a couple of questions? Does Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory do breakfast, as the menus on here don't show it? Also, how long does it take to get to Riverside, as the food court there seems bigger? Can you walk it or do you have to wait for the buses?

Thabks! :thumbsup2

Since you have stayed at POR and POFQ can you tell me which you liked best and why? Which has a better pool area? How about the food courts? I just booked today for POR the first week of September with free dining, just wondering if I should have booke POFQ instead. Thanks for any info.

We preferred POFQ. The main reason was the compactness of the resort. We were on the second floor facing into the courtyard away from the pool and laundry area. All we had to do was step out of our room door take an immediate left, walk to the other interior room side, down the stairs and were were literally 100 feet from the food court and directly in front of the laudry building and hot tub. It was very easy getting around this small resort. POFQ pool is more animated and colorful, POR has smaller "satellite pools" that are for the most part quieter and then a large pool with a slide and pool bar that is on an island across from the restaurant. This pool theme is more like a hopped up campground type pool with dark wooden posts and slides etc. It is very nice and has a kiddie pool, but best of all very good drinks at the bar.:thumbsup2 The walk is about 1/4 mile from POFQ and POR, about 10 minute stroll, but beautiful. Besides it really does not matter which you are staying because you can use the amenities at both. Also you must take the water taxi to downtown disney at sun down you will love it.:cool1:

Glad to hear you had a great trip! :thumbsup2 Do you have any pictures of the resort to share?

Happy to see this post... we are going there in a few weeks and we cant wait!!!!!!! I will have to remember the clorax wipes what a good idea!!!!

We were not facing the pool, but a beautiful courtyard. I don't think the pool would be so noisy to disrupt a nap, but we were on the other side. It was only one minute to pool and maybe 2 minutes to the food court.

The buses were fine. We only went to POR twice, the other times we went straight to the parks. This was great.
When we went to POR, we were picked up first and dropped off first. We spent most days at the pool and went over the parks in the afternoon, so the bus was not crowded. The buses did get crowded at park closing but nothing more than any other resort we have stayed at.

They do have breakfast on the food court. There was an egg platter, egg sandwich, mickey waffles, etc...
We just got the beignets because they were cheap and delicious.
We did walk to POR for breakfast one day because we wanted a sitdown restaurant. It only took about 10 minutes at the most, but it was really nice. We walked along the river and it was refreshing and relaxing.

It has been several years since we stayed at POR, but from what I remember, we like POFQ better. The main reason is the small size. When we stayed at POR we had to walk quite a bit to get anywhere. I also like being really close to the pool for easy access to our room. If I remember correctly, POR does not have many, if any rooms close the the main pool.
I like POFQ main pool better, but the slide is longer at POR. My DD likes the shorter slides because it is easier to go up and down and has less of a line.
I really liked how the pool bar was set up with several tables right there.
I also like how the hottub was in its own little courtyard, it just gave it a special feeling. I could not see the pool from the hot tub, but my youngest is 9 and is a great swimmer, but she is always with my teenager anyway.
I am not sure I can put it in words, it just felt more relaxing and was not as crowded because the resort is smaller.

Thanks for your review. I am glad that you enjoyed POFQ! It is our favorite mod. We were going to stay at AKL in Jan 2009, but then decided to stay 10 nights instead of 7 and just stay at POFQ. I can't wait to return!

We stayed at POFQ last April & we LOVED it!! We are headed back there next month:cool1: :cool1: Here are some pics from our trip last year:
