JUST BACK FROM POFQ---ANY Q's?? (PICS ADDED PG3, #33!!)

We are staying @ POFQ this November we have this lil tradition of getting our lunch (on the first day) and taking our trays out to the pool to soak up the sun and enjoy just being in Disney. Can you take your food out to the pool deck?
How far is the other resort? (riverside)

Thnks Nettii:goodvibes

Nettii: the food court is absolutely close enough to the tables around the pool. There is actually even that are not "on the pool decking" but just around that area. Very close to the laundry room.

mominwestlake: I, too, was a little apprehensive about the pool before arriving, as I looked at it closely before we booked. However, I knew how tired we would be after a long day at the park and knew we would be going to water parks. I do think if the pool had been different, we may have spent more time at the pool, but we still did go to the pool. But, having said that, I would still stay there again. The food court and location of the resort are really good. So, I guess if pool time is a really big factor for you, you could always take the boat or walk to POR (that seemed a little too far for us to go for a pool)- especially for the short time the kids were in it. Since your kids are such varying in age, I think I would stick with POFQ because "some" of them will really like it and the others can play with each other. We took a "shark ball" (floaty type of torpedo--looks like a shark) and the kids were able to play with that. So, just pack something for them to throw (carefully, of course) and they should be fine. We were in Building 5, first floor...absolutley great location!!!!

Can't wait to see more. Possibly considering this hotel for (NEAR) future :goodvibes

Nescafe will not cut it for my husband so I know I'll be making coffee in the room each morning. Do I want to bring our own coffee or is the coffee provided in the room OK?

Thanks,
Debbie

First trip for the two of us coming up, October 2007 -- only had to be married 30 years before I was finally able to get him to go to WDW! My last trip, the year it opened. I'm getting excited!

Yes, people were eating in their chairs by the pool. There are also tables by the bar area where you can eat lunch, but beware that is a designated smoking section.

Riverside wasn't too far of a walk, however after walking around the parks all day you may want to opt for the 5 min boatride there...and the guys who drive the boats are also quite funny!

I didn't drink the coffee in the room,I make awful coffee so I rely on buying it most of the time. I did however 'cheat' a little with getting coffee at the food court. I took one of the styrofoam cups they provide you with in the room and went and got coffee in the foodcourt. I know, I know, that is not very nice of me...but come on how much does coffee really cost them?? I am a dunkin donuts girl and their nescafe coffee really is disgusting (but does the trick to take the edge off). I say if you are going to brew in your room bring your own or buy some when you get down there.

Have a wonderful vacation, first time since it opened---you are going to be amazed at how much it has changed. I hope you and your husband have a great time!! :wizard:

Im sorry I didnt understand-do they have coffee pots in the room?:goodvibes
Thnks
And Thnks for the replie on lunch @ the pool:thumbsup2 Im sooo excited!:goodvibes

Ok, I have a bit of a dumb question considering we just stayed at POFQ 3 months ago, but here goes. When you guys went to the bus stop, did you go through the main building/lobby each time or is there another way?? We always went through the lobby. Just wondering if there's a "shortcut".

We stayed at POFQ back in '98 and are returning for a stay in April. We stayed in Bldg. 5 and I want to say that there is a pathway from the bus station to that area of the resort without going through the lobby, but then again my memory is fading.:lmao: Maybe a more recent visitor could help with this question.

Yes coffee pots in room!

Your pictures are beautiful! I am worried though when some describe the pool as one for toddlers! My kids are 5, 10, 11, 13, and 15. I was leaning toward French Quarter over POR since it had the 1st bus stop.

The only thing about the pool that is geared towards smaller children(under 10) would be the pool slide.

Thnks ericafny Im going to make us a small coffe basket to take along!;) With yummy coffee from home!:thumbsup2 That will be a nice way for my Dh to wake up since he is married to a Disney Nazzi:rotfl2:

Hey! I think there was one outlet near the bed as there was an alarm clock and it had to have been plugged in somewhere! I can't say for sure but I am guessing there are. If not, maybe pack and extension cord just incase :)
