Just let me start out by saying "Rent a car!!!"

I can't imagine relying on Disney Transportation for the entire week.........We used our car all the time. The one night we didn't use it - went to the California Grill - it took us 1 1/2 hours to get from the Contemporary to POFQ. We were fine with it, but we didn't have any kids with us. Save your self the hassle and spring for the rental car. It is so worth it!!

That said, we had a wonderful week. We went to the parks Mon - Thurs. The only park we used FastPass in was MK. On Mondy, they didn't even have the FastPass Machines open at MGM. We walked on TOT and RNRC. There were plenty of people around, but we had virtually no waits. Epcot was also very solw. We didn't wait for anything - walked on Test Track twice and Mission Space. (Don't read anything about Mission Space - just do it. I think all the hype on the baords makes it seem much worse than it is. The less you know going in, the better. You will enjoy it more.)

The area around the wave pool at Thyphoon Lagoon was jammed, but we didn't have to wait for any of the slides except the family raft ride which is just slow loading. I would expect there is always a line for that one...... We found a lovely sunny spot right by the entrance to Shark Reef and had a great day!!

The MK was by far the busiest park we went to, but we used FastPass and were done with everything we wanted to see by 4pm. We didn't have to wait in character lines or Dumbo, etc. because we didn't have kids with us, but the lines were not horrible for those things. Big Thunder had the longest line we saw - probably 30 minutes, but the FastPass return times were only about 1 hour away so we used the FastPass and walked on....(I don't understand not using FastPasses..........)

Some comments on POFQ:

The hotel - would not call this a resort - was nice and quiet. If you are looking for a room and not much else, then this would be a great place. We had a king room on the third floor of building 4. Very convenient to the parking lot and the main building. By the way, the views here don't matter at all because you have to have your shades closed when you are in the room because people walk by right outside your window. You never see the light of day much less any views when you are in your room.

The boatride to Downtown Disney was pleasant but not always efficient. Hopefully in the busier months they have a lot more boats running because sometimes we had to wait for the next boat and POFQ was at 57% occupancy from what a CM told me.

If you want a resort with things going on, stay at the Poly. We went there on Saturday night and the place was hopping!! There was no one around at POFQ, but at the Poly and the GF, there were all kinds of people around. It was kind of fun, although if you wanted to eat there without PS, you could be out of luck. The waits were very long.

The mousekeeping at POFQ was excellent. Our room was clean every day. Our toiletries were replaced even though the original ones were still on the sink unopened. We never had towel critters, but it was quite obvious that we had no children with us. We were very pleased. We heard very little noise from the room next door. Once in a while, someone would walk by with a rolling suitcase. It was very peaceful. I do think that I would stay somewhere else next time

One other note, do not waste your time on the Electrical Water Pageant. They really ought to stop this altogether. IT consists of about 6 screens of lights and horrible music and lasts about 4 minutes. It is a joke. I hope it used to be better (before the hurricanes??)

Anyway, we had a great relatively uncrowded week in the World. Did a little letterboxing. Way cool!! Relaxed, and now we are back to reality. It's not so bad, ya know??

Sounds like a great time to visit the world - thanks for posting!

Thanks for the info. We are staying at POFQ for the first time and cannot wait! (We're driving down, so we'll be driving from resort to resort):Pinkbounc

I agree, we would never go to WDW without a rental. We stayed at the WL from 11/13-11/20 and while we spent a lot of time at the MK with our 2yo and didn't need a car, the 10 minute car ride from another park or hotel to the WL was convenient.

Thank you for all the wonderful information you posted. DH, DD, DS and I are staying at POFQ in February (before the President's week madness). We had noly stayed at CBR before. Just looking for something a little quainter and quieter. princess:
