We just got back on Friday from our first trip since joining the DVC in February. It was a wonderful trip, surpassing our expectations in many ways. Some thoughts:
*We were in room 440 at the BCV. Though we are non-smokers, we sacrificed staying in a smoking room for the view, which was pretty special. We could see Spaceship Earth, the Imagination buildings, and even most of the Illuminations fireworks. As great as the view was, next time we think we'll make a non-smoking room a priority. The odor of smoke was really only noticable when we first walked in each time, but it was a distraction. Also, there was some road noise, but it was very minor and did not disturb our sleep.
*The BCV are every bit as nice as other postings had led us to belive. We joined sight unseen, having already seen the other DVC properties and knowing what to expect. But seeing them in person was still exciting and not a disappointment in the least. The Breezeway is very nice, and the Drawing Room is really relaxing. By the way, we toured the model there, and since we are already members received a BCV pin. It seemed that they were about to run out, though. There's no where else in the "World" that we saw a BCV pin.
*Al E. Gator is still checked in at the canal! We looked for him all week, but didn't spot him until our last day there. We saw him floating peacefully right by where the canal goes under the building. For a Midwesterner, that's pretty exciting!
*Both SAB and the BCV quiet pool were great. SAB is fun and exciting for both kids and adults during the day (there's nothing like the feel of sand between your toes), and the quiet pool was a nice retreat at night, especially relaxing after a hot day at the parks. DW had some great conversations with other members at the quiet pool spa.
*Nothing can beat the Epcot resort area for dining options. Had great meals at Yachtsman Steakhouse, Spoodles, Cape May and Beaches and Cream (we can't WAIT to order another "No Way Jose" at B&C!!)
*We took some time to take additional looks at the other DVC resorts. We are anxious to stay at both OKW and VWL, but since the BWV first sparked us to consider joining years ago, we are going to try those next. It seems like it will be a similar experience to BCV, any thoughts?
*I got into the Hot Seat on "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire- Play It". After all the time I spent mocking people that I saw on TV, I can honestly say that it REALLY IS different there! I was a nervous wreck; and I'm a former actor who is used to being in front of an audience. I was toppled at the $16,000.00 level by the one thing I feared- a sports question! (Who reading this now would have known the tied score of the 2002 Baseball All-Star game? Answer below!!)
All in all, it was a great trip with lots of good times. The Food and Wine festival is in full swing, and was a lot of fun. We tried our best to leave behind our "commando" style of touring, but the lure of all the things to do in WDW was just too much this trip! For us, it was an accomplishment just to leave the parks mid-day to relax at the pool. Hopefully, the more we visit, the more we will be able to relax. That's one of the main reasons we joined.
I posted a trip report about the Universal portion of our trip on the Universal board.

(PS- The All-Star game score was 7 to 7)
