Just Back From Our First AKLV Visit As Owners

I'm just posting to let you all know the trip was Great!!!

-Loved AKL!!!!

-Our room was ready upon arrival (12:10)
our first assigned room was on the Sunset savanna farthest out and we
asked if we could get closer to the lobby and avoid the construction CM
wasnt't too happy but checked twice and gave us the room of our dreams
5519 Arusha savanna 1 bed. This same wonderful CM came up to check out
the room and bring our DS a Safari Goofy as a birthday gift. Loved her!!

-Ate at Boma once and Jiko twice and breakfast and late night snack at Mara
still didn't care too much for Boma but Jiko was delishh didn't care for our
sever the second time but oh well

-Really didn't want to change resorts on Fri
We had reservations at Portofino at Universal for fri and sat lovely resort.
DH went down to the desk on Thurs. night to see if we could stay at AKL in
in the same villa . Supervisor took care of the whole thing cash ress with
the member discount. Got our new room keys on Fri. morn.

-Ordered from Gardengrocer
Order was there when we arrived (complete), most of the items were Publix
brand. I use them because I don't want to stop for distilled water for son's
C-PAP, honestly I didn't think the items in the gift shop were that over
priced compared to what I payed.

-I slept on the pullout sofa
Not bad.....but i was soo tired I could have slept on concrete.

I'd be happy to answer any questions, but for all of the new members to AKLV enjoy you made a great decision!! I will love this resort for many years to come

I did last minute ress (day of) for all of the AKL meals. Actually we got alot of things last minute but we also don't care when we eat ha

I have no clue whatt was up with the one server. We sat for 25min. without anything...she did come over and said she would be right back. My daughter and I are and have been servers so we can relate somewhat. She also forgot to serve the 2 salads that were ordered and then tried to bring them after the main course was out. But the food was amazing.

First table by the window, second was by the sunset wall.

Thanks for the great review! We're not AKV owners but our first stay there is next spring and we cannot wait. We opted for the standard view because we found their pool amazing when we stayed at AKL a few years back. We loved the bus service then too. Is it still as good? Your review has actually doubled my excitement.

If I understood your post....did you cancel your Portofino hotel stay and just stay at AKV last minute....with a DVC discount.
If so Niiiiice

Have you already stayed at Portofino....always wanted to try it one day.

Didn't use the bus service at all, sorry. We had a rental so we just drove everywhere. But we had gotten a volvo wagon uprade for some crazy reason instead of the equinox we booked, so we had a joke with valet going the whole time about this vovlo. Never had a ticket haha

We did decide at the last minute(we made the arrangements Thurs. night and were grateful to get it) to stay at AKL although we kept saying the whole trip that we wished we could just stay there and not switch resorts, Of course we were doing it to save those weekend points, but Portofino Bay is a great resort. We have stayed at Portofino 3 times in the past. We did visit Universal on Fri. and just drove over. Just as a comparison our rate for club level which is a huge room with garden tub and shower was $309 plus tax, cash in the 1 bed savanna view room was $373 tax included.

Also, I wanted to say we used the front desk concierge a bit for boarding passes, some lost items, and dinner ressies, and never was met with anything but a smile.

OKAY enough of my ramblings abviously loved the resort and had a great trip
