Got home tonight from our first trip as DVC members. We stayed at Old Key West in a beautiful Grand Villa! It was great because it was handicap accessible for my dad and right across the street from the Hospitality house and pool. Went to Olivas twice which was very good food. Got about 10 "Welcome homes" from the friendly staff there. Weather was great but the parks were getting more crowded every day of the week. We checked into OKW on Sunday the 5th and by last night the parks were packed. But we really didnt care, were just glad to be at Disney World. "Wishes" was fantastic and I got some great new Tinkerbell pins. Old Key West is a beautiful resort and we will definetly stay there again.

Glad you had a great "first trip"! Starting off in a Grand Villa is the way to go. Here's to many more years of fun trips.

Your first trip "home!" How exciting! Now that you have stayed in a Grand Villa, will you ever stay in any smaller unit :)? I'm glad you enjoyed your meals at Olivia's & that you heard "Welcome Home!" Do you have next trip booked or at least planned :)?

Hi, we do have another trip planned for December and will stay at the Wilderness Lodge in a 2 bedroom. (Thats our home resort)We really did love that grand villa but we won't be staying in one for quite a while! We just bought a resale and luckily for us there was a grand villa available this week Sunday - Wednesday so I grabbed the reservation which we only made 2 months ago. (I was surprised it was available Easter week) Then we switched over to a 2 bedroom for the last night which was hugh also. I had heard Old Key West has the biggest rooms. The room switch for the last night was so easy, they just came up at 11am and put our luggage in storage, even putting my sons lap top in a locked off area, and our cold food in a refrigerator, then at 4pm after we came back from Downtown Disney, everthing was in the 2 bedroom in the same building. Couldn't have asked for anything easier.

Glad to read you had a great time and everything went well. That must be some experience having a Grand Villa for your first trip home.

We stayed in a two bedroom at OKW last July & loved it.

Glad you had a great time too!:wave2:

Our first stay was a GV also, we had two years worth of points, so we splurged....when we got there, we realized that we were going to need a GV every year, so we added 200 points during that first stay.

The GV with all the kids in one room and two couple having their own rooms, really and truly makes for a comfortable vacation.

We stayed in that GV last time, we had MIL with us and gave her the master, she wouldn't have been able to do it any other way.

Just back from a GV stay (4824). It was simply sublime! We could have managed wirh a 2 BR & seperate studio for the in-laws, but the GV was definately the way to go - worth every point.

Glad you had a wonderful time. We may someday do the GV with the family. Which building were you in? Just was wondering if you were near hospitality house was it quiet by you?

Hi, we were in Grand villa 6322 across the street from the hospitality house. It was 2nd floor (elevator building) handicap accessible for my dad. He had the master bedroom on the first floor so it was easy for him to get around. He broke his ankle in December and is still recuperating so he can walk short distances but it was great that the desk staff at OKW gave us a wheel chair for his use for the week. It was nice to be able to go right across the street to Olivias for dinner 2 nights.
The building was very quiet. I guess also because we were upstairs helped alot. The only noise I did hear was around 6am one morning when they were cutting the grass at the golf course behind us but that was it. I really didn't see anyone else at all around our building! I guess everyone was in the parks earlier than us!
