We had another great visit- a 4 nite long weekend trip.
We were in building 49- all the way at the back of the South Point area- next to the highway. We were in 4925 (1BR) closest to the roadway, but never heard any road sounds. The villa had been recently renovated. The tile had all been resurfaced and looked like new. (Foyer, bathroom, kitchen and balcony).
This building (and #50) is furthest from the So. Point bus stop, but there is a walkway shortcut next to the building that leads to the Turtle Pond pool. It was about the same distance to that bus stop as So. Point so we used that bus stop instead of So Point to catch the bus. Buses were fine the whole time- no waits over 10 minutes.
OKW was above 98% occupancy this week- including the weekend. It had the highest occupancy of all Disney resorts during this time. Yesterday (Sat) there were 307 checkout/in and another 325 today. The desk staff and Bell staff were hopping both days- not to be confused with housekeeping!
I was able to see at few a danny1649's DIS/DVC meet this afternoon before we met our towncar (<a href="http://www.fltours.com">FL Tours</a>)to return to MCO. There were about 7 there early. It was great to see iluvdisney, danny and his DW belinda and ScottH and his DW. It's fun to put faces to the names here on the boards.
The progress at SSR is impressive. I was most impressed with the fact that they are pouring the foundations for the next phase- that keeps them on schedule to open the next buildings beginning in January, 2005. (#1-4 will open in May, June, July and Aug).
The pool is taking shape and the exterior of Bldgs 1-4 is looking great. They are also rehabbing the interior of the old DI South Studio for use as the new DVC sales center. Lots of construction crews all over the place.
For those who missed the photos I posted from Friday, here is a link to <a href="http://disneydoc.homestead.com/ssr1203.html">new SSR construction photos.</a>
The DVC resorts look great with the Christmas decorations. BWV has a wonderful chocolate sculpture in the lobby. OKW has it's usual light pole decorations (and a few balconies have been decorated by guests). The whole WDW looks wonderful.
Crowds are the busiest I've seen at this time over the past 5 years. Weather was nice (except for yesterday - in the upper 50's). Now we're back home to highs in the 30's and 40's!
Enjoy!
