Just back from OKW and Everest.
Just returned from a weekend at OKW. We were burning up some holding account points before they expired. We had a studio for three nights (Fri, Sat and Sun) in the Turtle Pond area. Check-in was quick and friendly, with plenty of "Welcome Home"s. We were given a choice of rooms, and chose the first option, because it was on the first floor. Our studio was #3210. It was nice with no problems, but a little close to the road (lots of bus noise). The weather was spectacular, with highs in the 70's and lows in the 50's. We had dinner on Friday at Olivia's, and really enjoyed the food and atmosphere.
This was our first stay at OKW. It compares well with our other DVC stays (BCV, SSR, HHI). It is truly amazing how quickly we feel at home at each of the DVC resorts. I really enjoyed the sense of community at OKW. Everyone we ran into, especially other guests, were smiling and friendly, did not seem to be in a hurry, and paused to say hello. The pace just seemed slower than I have witnessed at other resorts.
We had not planned to go to the parks during this visit, but with the Expedition Everest sneak preview happening, we just had to go to Animal Kingdom. We Rode Everest Saturday morning, arrived at the park at about 9am. The line for the coupon for the free gift lanyard and pin took about 30 minutes. The standby line said 45 minutes, but only took about 8. The ride is excellent. The queue area is so interesting that I almost hate that it did not take longer to get on the ride. The gift shop was cool too! I'm sure that Expedition Everest will become one of the top attractions at WDW. I know I loved it and will try to ride it on every visit. We hopped over to the Magic Kingdom that evening to see Spectro Magic and to say hi to a cm friend.
Another great DVC Vacation! OKW gets an A+. This trip, like every other trip, reinforces that buying into DVC was the best decision we have ever made.
