Just back from last minute trip...no FP? No problem

Great report! We had a very similar experience this past Sunday in EP. We made a last minute decision to go to EP after we dropped DS8 at Sandcastle Club. Around 3 pm, after refreshing the MDE app a few times, I was able to snag FP+ for Soarin for me and DH. We then strolled around and were able to walk up to Spice Road Table for dinner (which was GREAT!). Around 3 pm, when Soarin' showed up in MDE, I also could have snagged TT or Illuminations if we had wanted them. For those wanting FEA, however, without at FP+, I think your best bet is RD. I checked the app pretty frequently this past Saturday and Sunday and FEA wait times were never less than 90 minutes. We were lucky to have FP+ on Saturday.

GOOD FOR YOU! QUESTION,:confused3 Regarding FP for Illuminations, one of our Epcot days, I have 2 FP booked, 2nd one I think is 12:00. Does ANYONE know if when we get in the FP line at 12:00, what will be the chances to grab a FP for Illuminations that evening at around 12:00 noon, think there will be any left? If NOT, not a big deal, will just get a spot. TIA!:goodvibes
Before attempting to book Illuminations, you need to have used (or allowed some to expire) all 3 initial FPs. You'll need to book a Tier 2 FP for the morning and allow it to expire then as soon as you tap your 12:00 FP, try for Illuminations.

Little hint...you don't have to wait for the FP to expire, younjustbhave to use it! For example, our third FP at MK was space. I scanned our bands, and as we were walking up the space queue, had another FP booked right away.

The PP is only booking 2 FPs so she needs to book the 2nd Tier 2 for the morning and either use it or allow it to expire (allow the return window to lapse) before her 12:00 FP.

I thought that I read that in my example I am only using 2 FP that Epcot Day, the 2nd window starts at 12 noon. As soon as we tap the FP at 12 in line, we can search for a 3rd, Illuminations, correct? :confused:TIA!:goodvibes

Only if you haven't used a Tier 1 that day. You sound as if you have a Tier 1 pre-booked or else your choice could already be Illuminatons.

The FP FAQ Addendum in the FP forum explains how to book a 2nd Tier 1 quickly.

Thanks, so I must have 2 Tier 2 booked in addition to the one Tier 1 that I have booked to try to book Illuminations since this is Tier 1. I can book an early tier 2 and let it expire. The key is you must have "used" 3 before booking a 4th in the same park or another park, but can begin searching for the 4th fast pass as soon as you tap the 3rd fast pass. Thanks sgain, hope I have the information correct.:goodvibes

For in park FP booking you do have it correct. :)

For Park Hopping, you can book 1 Tier 1 and use it then immediately book a Tier 1 for a different park as well as a Tier 2 to complete your initial allotment of 3. Only applies to park hopping, though, which you probably won't be doing?

Park hopping one day, thanks for clarification!::yes::

just back from a last minute (under 3 days of prep) trip to Disney!

A few notes!

We booked fastpasses 48 hours in advance, got mid morning Soarin, spaceship earth and mission space at Epcot. Rode FEA at rope drop, which went great. Speed walk to the ride, under five minutes waiting. It was a non EMH morning, recommended park. Rode test track right after, used single rider line since wait time was up to 45 minutes by 9:20. Walked on sum of all thrills, then waited about 50 minutes for Joy and Sadness, 20 for Baymax. After riding our fastpasses had lunch at via Napoli. We got all, dining reservations one day before each meal (when other people cancel). Used FP for illuminations, great viewing spot!

MK day we had FP for space, splash and pirates. Rode 7dmt at rope drop. Very civilized walk behind an actual, rope, rode on the very first train Saturday morning. Many rides had under 20 minute wait until 11. Staked out a spot for MSEP/fireworks about 20 minutes before the parade.

DHS was our last day, rode rnr coaster twice (EMH morning), had FP for tsmm, star tours, tower of terror. All the Star Wars stuff was awesome, the meet and greets were awesome. Kylo Ren is very intimidating. Staked out a spot for fireworks 20 minutes before with no problem.

Stayed at all star sports. Great value for the price we paid. Buses were amazing. Didn't wait more than 10 minutes, ever, including park opening and closing.

Weather was supposed to be terrible. We had exactly one rain shower a day, mid afternoon.

Looking forward to doing it again soon!

Nice! :thumbsup2

This is the joy of a late August visit. If you can stomach the weather, the crowds are very easy to deal with!
