This was our first stay as DVC owners. AKV is our home resort and I'm so happy we picked it! We loved almost everything about it. The room was beautiful and was in great condition. The view was great. We stayed looking over the sunset savannah, but in retrospect I wouldn't have minded Pembe at all. The Thompson gazelle were a riot to watch and those hogs were great. The only two things we didn't love was the long hallways. Our room was 7664 which meant it was in the sixth bead, long walk but it made for a very quiet room and hallway. Our other issue was no counter service was kind of a hassle but found that the shuttle to and from Jambo house was so easy and honestly, the walk between the two was nice and relaxing. I can see that those with mobility issues would find it hard to walk between the two.

The staff was very friendly. No complaints there at all. Oh one thing I wanted to mention was the buses. When we stayed at AKL back in 2004, we were so disappointed in the buses we didn't think we'd ever stay there again. This time, I'm not sure if we have low expectations, but we were really pleased with the buses. We rarely had to wait for either direction. Only once did we wait for the Hollywood studios bus bit it was only about 7-10 minutes.

I'm so glad we picked a "stay where you like" resort. So much to do even if you don't do a park day. Well loved the pool and slide. Sanaa was so good we ate there twice! That shrimp dish was so good I'm craving it right now. If you have any questions ask now while its all few on my head. :)

Did you see the Flamingo feedings @ Jambo? If so, is it worth altering the daily schedule to go see? (Thanks in advance)

We didn't. We basically went to Jambo Ouse to eat at the Mara and hang out in the lobby. Oh, we did do the marshmallow roasting. Yummy!

We are staying at jambo house in January. Can you elaborate on the marshmallow roasting and the flamingo feeding please.

:) We love our home resort also. We have only stayed at Kidani and have 2 value studios at Jambo reserved 10/26-11/2...almost to single digits.

So glad you had a great trip.:cool1:

They have marshmallow roasting starting at 6:30 at both Jambo House and Kidani near the pool area. Pretty basic, but fun. I don't know about the flamingos.
