Just back from Kidani

We just returned Sunday evening from a wonderful week stay at AKV-Kidani and two nights at SSR. I can't say enough good things about the resort or our stay. The 2BR villa was immaculate, the staff from check-in to housekeeping friendly, efficient-the young CMs from Africa are charming and and a pleasure to speak to. Our villa was on the 4th floor and a good ways from the lobby, but our view looked straight down the savanna instead of across at the other villas-and with four adults it wasn't an issue with the distance from the lobby and pool area-none of us minded the walk. It only took 5 minutes to walk to Jambo-we had breakfast and dinner there one evening. Also a fantastic meal at Jiko and Sanaa.
It was hot, but good weather-only rained twice (once only for 5 minutes!). Get to the parks early-at opening if possible-we left by lunch time every day and enjoyed the pool until evening. Then if we could tear ourselves away from the view we walked around the parks and had dinner out.

Glad you had a good time at Kidani. We are staying there for the first time in October...only 44 more days. We are also staying in a 2br SV. Thanks for getting me even more excited about going "home" in 44 days.

I'm glad you had such a great stay! We also loved Kidani, we had a savannah view, second floor, close to the lobby. I think we'll be going back there before our cruise, next November.

We were there in July and had a 2BR villa on the 4th floor but with a pool view. It was wonderful and we liked it so much, we're going to stay there again next year!!

We ate at Sanaa twice (both times had the flatbread appetizer - YUM!). The only complaint is there is no counter service. In talking to the staff about the lack of counter service, I believe that this is going to be addressed. They stated that it is the #1 complaint among the members.

Glad you enjoyed Kidani! We have only stayed at Jambo so far, but I'm hoping to get one night in at Kidani in March.

Is it a long walk to Jambo from there? I think it has counter service, doesn't it?

We just became member at Kidani in May..took our daughter to Disney (stayed outside property) in July and showed her where we'd be staying next time..she was very excited - SO.....we decided to trade in her usual very expensive birthday party that produces nothing but a mess and countless toys that wind up in a heap for a 5 day stay at Kidani for her 7th birthday in February. I can't wait!!

Jambo does have counter service. The walk is about 5 mins, not long at all.

I'm really hoping the CM knew what he/she was talking about and that Disney is addressing the issue with lack of CS, what an oversight to not offer it at such a large resort.

another parent like me. I have only ever given my daughter one bday party. Instead we plan a day to AG or something special like Disney. She likes it way better and appreciates it.

Sounds like a fabulous trip. Don't really like split stays but we're doing one next June just to experience Kidani, which I think we will prefer over the Jambo lodge type of stay.

I agree with you 100% about the lack of counter service for the Kidani Village area. I hope that members continue to voice their concerns to Disney about this. Especially once all of Kidani is ready for occupancy, the need for a counter service restaurant on that side will really come to the forefront.
