What a great hotel! We will definitely stay here again.

We booked a DL view room and had room 1603 – 6th floor in building 1. It was across from the elevators but we never did hear any noise from the hallway. We had a perfect view of the fireworks every night and could even see a bit of Fantasmic. To the left we had a great view of ToT and California Adventure. Straight out we could see Space Moutain, the Matterhorn and the monorail.

The room was extremely clean and the staff was so nice. There is a great gift shop on the first floor that is very well stocked and reasonabily priced. The pool was heated. We had a coffee maker and fridge in the room. We ate at Mimi’s and also got it to go one night – loved it!

Overall we had a great experience with HoJo’s and highly recommend it.

If anyone has any questions I’d be happy to try and answer them. :earsboy:

We're arriving next Friday and can't wait. Can you tell me a little about the pool area? HoJo advertises that it has a special water play area for little kids, and I'm wondering what it includes, i.e. water slide, fountains, etc. Thanks for any info.

To be honest we didn't spend any time in the kids area as my DD(2) doesn't like the water so my DD(7) and DH spent their time in the larger pool area. I did see the kids area and it looked like fun. It has a little turtle that spits water out and some of those sprinklers that shoot up from the ground along with a kids pool. I'm assuming it's heated. They told us at check in that the main pool is heated to 82 degrees and the hot tub is 103 degrees.

Have fun!!

Glad you enjoyed your stay! That's where dh and I stayed for our honeymoon almost 15 years ago and we loved it too! They even had a cake and champagne waiting for us in our room when we arrived! :flower:

We'll be there 6/27 - 7/2 and booked a DL view - so I'm excited to learn about how much you can see!

Can you tell me a bit more about the gift shop? Do you remember hours (we get in around 9 pm on 6/27) and what food items they had for sale? If sodas are reasonably priced and they have breakfast type items (cereal boxes, yogurt or milk, etc.) we may not need to do a grocery stop on the way in.

Thanks for building up our anticipation! 19 days . . .

I don't remember the hours of the gift shop but they were always open when we walked by - early in the morning or late at night. I bet they would still be open at 9 - I believe we were at the pool that late one night and they were still open when we came back in.

They have all kinds of cereals and breakfast bars. And they give you free plastic bowls and spoons when you buy cereal and milk. They are stocked full of all kinds of snacks - chips, pretzels, crackers, etc - even beer. I don't remember exact prices on anything but I know when we paid I was always surprised it was so reasonable. I would hold off on the grocery stop until you visit the gift shop - you may not need a grocery store!

In the main pool area there are two pools, a spray area, and a hot tub.

The kiddie pool is around a foot deep at the "deep end"...it's a walk-in style. Not big, but big enough for toddlers. The spray areas are a half dozen or so jets of water around the turtle you see on their site. My kids are used to big fountains (Kansas City is the city of fountains, after all!) so this didn't interest them. But, if you have toddlers, it would be perfect.

The pool itself was heated to over 80 degrees. It was clean...walk-in steps. No diving board. It was clean and well kept. There was a huge supply of fresh towels next to it...and lounge chairs for anyone who doesn't want to swim.

The hot tub was too hot for my family! Even I had no interest. It was sauna-hot. I am guessing perhaps that helps keep the kiddies out of it!

There are showers and bathrooms in this area.

There is an "adult" pool on the other side of building 3. They refer to this as the "quiet" pool. We didn't go back there, but it looked clean...it was not huge but I guess if you wanted to do laps, you could.

As to the hotel...if you have room, you might want to bring individual servings of cereal. Either prepackage your own or buy the prepackaged. I think they wanted .85 for a small package of cereal. Then again, if you really don't care, you can get whatever you need. They have a variety of cereal, styrofoam bowls and plastic spoons (5 cents each), apples and bananas, yogurt, a variety of milk, a large selection of muffins, poptarts, cereal bars, bread, etc, and cheese and milk in the cooler.

I didn't pay much attention to what they had to offer for lunch/dinner selections.

As to the hours, they were open every time we came and went...as early as 7 am and as late as 12:30 am.

Tell the front desk that the Walsh family says hello!!!

We were there in December and the shop was always open when we were there as well.

It was small, but had a great selection of things - everything from cereal to picnic supplies like cheese, meats etc, sodas, milk, even beer and wine. The also sold chemist supplies, ponchos, raincoats, postcards, playing cards, Disney souvenirs, combs, shampoo etc - you name it they had it!

We swam in the pool at night in December and I can attest that it was well heated, and that the spa was very hot.

BUT the kids wet play area was NOT heated and was freezing. It was also quite small - no slides, just a few sprays.

And Mimi's was superb as well for breakfast, lunch and dinner - great food, huge portions and good prices.
