Just back from HHN 17...Report & Reviews

I
And another down note, we purchased the Ultimate Party passes for Annual Pass holders and this was a total and complete waste of money. Part of what we were supposed to get for purchasing these event tickets was express entrance into Bill & Ted, Friday The 13th: Camp Blood and Jack's Funhouse. Apparently, no one told the operators of these areas and we were forced to wait in the regular lines. And because they had put us in a "special" holding area next to the Bill & Ted stage, by the time they released us there were huge lines everywhere. There were a lot of very unhappy people over that event.

Anyway - we have the Frequent Fear passes so we are heading back tonight!

That should have been corrected immediately. making you wait in the regular line is ridiculous for something you paid extra for..especially if it was a long wait. If they did not know about it, then there should be a way to contact a supervisor right away to see if what the guest said is correct. making you wait in the reg. line is not a solution.

Well...some of the houses only had one entrance line and everyone waited in the same line up to a certain point...then the Express branched off. Jack's Funhouse was one of those houses and the line was really long but it moved pretty quickly and then the Express line branched off. It wasn't a big deal Friday night but I can see where one entrance is going to be an issue down the road.

They have done that before. Placing the EP line inside the regular line. The entrance to the Q, changes for peak and non-peak nights. I've always found it a PITA.

Maybe that's a change they'll make as the event wears on...especially on peak nights. :confused3

There was a screw-up yesterday with the AP party. It will be fixed today.

While I am sure that will be very nice for those that attended Saturday night, it does nothing to make up to those that got hosed on Friday night. I have to say it would not have bugged me all that much except for the fact that I paid money for that event - and I did not get what I paid for.

Did you go to Guest Services and let them know? They were "making it right" for those who had problems?

My wife and I went both nights and found things just as screwed up on Saturday. It appeared that there was no planning at all put into this party. Nobody, entry level, supervisor, knew what was going on. Some real penny pinching too. You couldn't get bottled beer with your drink tickets, but the bars in the party area didn't have draft beer. So where's the draft beer, it's outside the party area, but we can't let you leave the party area to get the beer. If they couldn't set up draft beer in the party area, how munch more would it have cost to give bottled beer? I talked to a couple of supervisors but did not go to guest services. Was HHN started there was just to munch to do.

On a more positive note HHN was a blast. We did all the houses twice on Friday with the help of express pass. On Saturday we did a few houses again and all the shows. If your a Rocky Horror fan the show was awesome. In a nut shell we loved all the houses and the shows. Well maybe not the freak show, but we did time that perfect with a cloud burst.

Couple of things to watch out for. There was no problem bringing drinks into Bill and Teds, and The Freak Show, but you couldn't at Rocky Horror. I talked to a TM at Rocky Horror and he say's the policy changes every ten minutes. No Happy Hour at Finnegans. We started there on Friday before hitting the AP Party. When we arrived the Happy Hour signs were up and our first two drinks were at Happy Hour prices. Then all of a sudden the computers crashed, a manager came running out behind the bar and informed the bartenders and waitstaff that there would be no Happy Hour. The computers stayed down for a while and when they came back up, regular price drinks. Any other questions feel free to ask, hopefully I can remember the answers.

Thanks again Phamton, the $99 Power Passes were still available at Publix. They are on a gift card tree by the service desk.

My DH wants to know where the dancing girls are this year if they are there at all this year. We missed them last year (or should I say DH missed them last year) Yes this is one of his highlughts of the night:rolleyes1

Yes. And nothing was made right and I spoke to people ranging from area managers to GS. Most didn't even know what event I was speaking of and others heard of it but didn't know specifics of anything. Finally, GS just said I should call the number on my Annual Pass and talk to them.

I haven't called yet because: first, I have not had the time and second, I am pretty sure it will involve another runaround.

PoohnPglet and bstnsprts:
Please email guest services with the issues you had. I'm really sorry that the AP party didn't work as it was intended.

You won't get the runaround if you email this address:
guestservices@universalorlando.com

if it makes anyone feel better ( I doubt it will), Howl-O-Scream was suffering from problems last night as well. when you transition a park from a slow time to a crowd crush while using seasonal TM's, you're going to get problems in the beginning of the event.

we've had similar problems at Not So Scary in the past.

I'm kinda not surprised the Ultimate Horror Part was disorganized. I just got a letter from UO to upgrade my PAP to the Premium and if I do I'd recieve one free admission to the Ultimate Horror Party on Sept. 28th and 29th.

So, glad I received this letter on the 29th of September, around noon. If I would have got in the car and drove to the park right away, I could have gotten there just in time for HHN to be over that night....

I always recieve the mailers after the fact.

Me and two friends went last night (Saturday) and we LOVED the houses.. we did miss the scare zones though. There were only two things about the whole night that didn't seem right.. one was the number of tour groups, I guess that's what they were. They had glowing things on their backs. They really didn't bother us until we tried to go in "Jacks" house.. there was only one line to start and it didn't branch into express pass for a while. Then we sat there and watched tour group after tour group come straight to the head of the line while the express line creaped and the nomal line didn't move at all. I know they paid for that but our express passes were like $60 each also.. I think in the future HHN will get to the point where you will have to pay $300 if you really want to avoid the two hour wait per house. The other thing that wasn't worth seeing was the "freak show". Could that guy have been any more full of himself? Then his grand finally was straight from a spam email that has been going around for years on the internet!?!? All in all it was worth the $129 each we paid.. I will probably go back at least once this year.

i'm soooo jealous::yes::

freddy, leatherface, jason:scared: , cast of charactars doesn't get any better than that imo.

pics, i need pics to live vicariously through:thumbsup2

Can anyone tell me if Jaws has been open during HHN?

I so want to go on it at night!!

The entrance for Friday The 13th house is the same entrance as Jaws, so the Jaws attracion is closed during HHN.

Pyshoscareapy was the only house that we had to wait in the standard line until it branched off into EP. But the line moved very fast so it wasn't a big deal.

Brian

No. Friday the 13th uses Jaws extended queue which has no effect on the normal queue of the attraction. Jaws is open.

I had a similar experience with the Ultimate Horror Party on Saturday night . . . but no big deal. Live and learn. I'm not upset enough to email anyone about it. Overall it was a great time, except for the rain. I've been going since 1994 and I enjoy it every year . . . some years are better than others but it is always worthwhile and something I look forward to every year.
