Just back from HHI 7/3-7/7!! Great time!

Just back from annual summer HHI vacation..Have never made any requests for rooms so this time I did online check in for first time and of course, I wasn't thrilled with assignment and CM could tell..and she told me what was available and I switched to 2823.2 bedroom. Over looked the huge hammock and picnic area, short walk everywhere at almost always shaded parking.
Sunday 7/3 arrived around 1:30pm(picked up my sisters in Charleston and we had driven from boston), stopped at Publix for supplies, check in was easy and then we hit the pool for relaxation and then got take out from Guisseppis (yummy as usual) and to bed early.

Monday 7/4- We hit the beach house around 10am, had not problem parking or finding chairs(even got a table)..stayed until 1:30pm, back for lunch and shower and our relatives from GA came by for dinner and stayed to watch fireworks(great, although late to start)..there was a BBQ at resort for $$, but we cooked our own burgers and dogs. Lots of games/activites for the kids.

Tuesday7/5-hit the outlets for am shopping...back for lunch and then hit the main pool..back for shower and dinner at EAT!(Robert Irvines from foodnetwork), very good, but long wait even with reservations.

Wednesday7/6 back to beach for am and main pool after lunch, shopping around shelter cove...Dinner..seafood Crazy Crab. disney dvds and early departure on thursday am for drive back.

We love HHI, that's why we added on there in 2002 and 2010!! Its our relaxing vacation..DH went thru a million books on his Nook....

Every CM we encountered was amazing..friendly, helpful, etc. Saw Mike the pool guy and he remembered us from the last 2 years and got some good infor from him, as usual.

Now countdown to VWL for xmas week!!

Wow..be prepared for extremely hot and humid!!! We went in august once and it was almost unbearable..we even left mini-golf at 9pm because it was so oppressive, We usually go in early June and we were afraid july 4th week would be bad, but it was perfect everyday! When we went in august, the main pool was so hot they dumped in laundry bins of ice to cool it off!! Too funny..we love the relaxing atmosphere of HHI so inside a/c with a book or movie is just fine, along with a swim...

PS forgot to add that we did a day trip one afternoon to Beaufort..cute harbor area and shops...

Hi! Thanks for posting OP. We are going for our first visit to HHI this weekend. Stayin 2 nights, departing Monday. We live in Charleston, but have never been to HHI. Go figure! We make a ton of trips down to Orlando and to the cruise ships, but just never took the time to check out HHI.

Not only is it our first trip to HHI, but our first visit on points (we own at SSR). So really looking forward to this trip.

Be careful about the add-on bug!!! We went to HHI first time on OKW points and then did our first add on there in 2002 to get the 11 month window for summer..you will love the resort!

We concur. We stayed one night on our way back home from WDW and are going back this Oct for a week. We plan on buying in at HHI when we need more points and/or the kids go to high school. Right now they are out 3 weeks in Jan, April, Jul and Oct so we tend to take our vacations NOT in the heat of summer so 7 months tends to be OK for DVC.

Yes you can rent beach chairs from the lifeguard at the beach..we always bring our own(we drive from boston). It is also easy enough to use chairs around pool at the beach house, then go for swim in the ocean or walk the beach..then return to the pool chairs.we did this for the week of the forth and it worked great!!! Have fun!!!
