Well after much displacement, I returned from a soggy but great trip.

I arrived with my DD9 in HH last Thursday. The resort is great. I never thought I would go anywhere but WDW resorts but I am now an HH convert. As everyone has said, the staff is great!!! I think since you are in the reosrt a lot more than we are in WDW and it is small, you really get to know the staff quickly. Matthew really made my DD's day (and mine) several times. He asked her several trivia questions to earn pins since he saw she had a lanyqrd but told her there weren't many trading opp. in HH. Due to weather, we only got to juggle for a few minutes before they cancelled it and that was the beginning of the end. Our dolphin watch was cancelled as was her one craft class. She loved the unbirthday party and the bird house making. We had planned on weathering the storm, but when it went from a cat 2 to a 4, we left. MS refunded all our points (non holding) which I thought was great. We look forward to going back and enjoying more.

I do have one small issue. When we went to go to bed the first night, I notice dirt on the pillow cases. I called down and asked for all new sheets as I had no way to know if it was dirty pillow cases or unchanged linen. An unhappy young woman arrived to change the linens with a upbeat male CM. She then moaned, they would be right back, they were given the wrong information about linen size. (I was a little confused since the studio has a queen bed and a queen sofa how king sheets could enter into the picture). She than came back alone and said he would be back in a few minutes, the blankets are all stored in another building. Keep in mind, it is prehurricane rain so I feel very guilty. I than sit there debating with myself if I should tip....I deserve to check in to clean linens, but they are running around in the rain ($5 each was my verdict). I was happy to get into a clean bed but again a little updet as the quilt was pretty wet from the walk to the building.

I drop my DD back with her dad and head for my solo trip to VWL. Of course my Orlando flight is cancelled and I end up in Tampa and driving across at midnight. I also opted for off site but found my hotel under water and with no power. Everything onsite was booked accept CS. They were very accomodating and gave me a "displacement rate" of $89. I checked into the Lodge at 8am Sunday and was sad to see so may down trees. (The twig moose was still standing tall but his antlers were hurting...I love that statue:D ). I was given my room card and told I would love my room it was just what I asked for (lake view, near elevator) I went off to take the KTK tour which was great! My room location was great but I think I would avoid fifth floor in the future (5521, studio). I found the angle on the ceiling made the room feel much smaller though I did love the covered balcony. Everyone at the resort was extremely courtous even though some had worked many, many hours on hurricane duty.

I tried some great new resturants with my DVC discount (and without) Cal Grill with WISHES, Alfredos, Kona Cafe and more. I enjoyed visiting BWV and BCV checking that all was "safe at home". Our resorts seemed to be well, just a lot of foliage clean up to do. They were replacing half of the BW dock but it sounded like it had already been scheduled.

I checked out SS and the new member update. For anyone who reads the boards often I didn't think the update offered much in the way of info. It was attended by about 45 families and I counted over 175 people. They did talk about the introduction of the free AP's with 130 SS points. They also gave some interesting stats on exchanges, I'll have to dig them out and post.

Lastly, (sorry to be so long) I did pick up and extra of each member pin and a HH resort pin if anyone is interested, just PM or email me.

Any questions, I'd be happy to answer.
Sandy

Thanks for the report. Glad you got through the storm safely. Isn't Hilton Head wonderful? We loved it there. Wish we lived closer. I sort of feel that if we are driving SO far, we might as well go to Orlando, but HH was really charming and beautiful. If I had a million dollars I'd retire there in a heartbeat!

We have reservations at the Lodge for 3/05 and I can't wait. We have a 2-bedroom with my parents and I know they will LOVE it. Glad you had a good trip.

So glad you liked HH. I love it there! Even though your dolphin watch was cancelled, I hope you got to see some Dolphins. Sometimes they're right next to the resort. What was the room # of your studio? Keeping room reports on HHI.

Glad you were safe during the hurricane. At least you will be able to use those points and not lose them.

Thank you for posting your report!:)

That is great that MS treated you so well in relation to Charley. That is great to hear. I too, am a HHI convert...I never could have imagined vacationing on DVC anywhere else but WDW, but after going to HHI...I've changed my mind!

Welcome back
Karen
