We had a great time!
We arrived in Hershey on Wed. and decided to head over to Chocolate World first. We rode the chocolate ride which the kids loved and then proceeded to the shopping area. Then we went on the Trolley tour ride, it was 45 minutes long and we really liked it. We had a great guide and it was really interesting even my kids had a good time. We learned all about Mr. Hershey, the school and the foundation of the company; I'm not normally a tour kind of person but I really enjoyed this one. Along the way we were given free samples of different Hershey's candy and then after the tour was over we got a full size candy bar.
We then headed over to the Hampton Inn and Suites on Chocolate Ave, literally 5 minutes away. We booked a King size 2 room suite with a AAA rate of 150 w/ tax. What a great room, nothing fancy but clean and large. The first room had a kitchen, living room area with pull out couch, counter area with chairs and a large TV. Second room had a King size bed large bathroom counter area with double sinks, large closet and then a seperate huge bathroom. Like I said before it was nothing fancy but a great value, would definitely return!
Next day we woke up early and went to Hershey park, park opened at 10am and we headed straight to the back right of the park because everyone else was going to the left. It was empty back there and we rode a bunch of rides fast. Ate lunch early and then we headed over to the zoo. LESSON LEARNED ....don't go to the zoo till LATER in the day! It was mobbed with school groups, ouch my ears, those kids are loud.
Later in the day we took the monrail ride over the zoo and it was empty.
There were rides for all ages. I loved that the kiddie rides were scattered throughout the park, this way I could take my DD on some of the big rides and my mom took DS on a couple kiddie ones, it's a real nice set-up. The new roller coaster, Storm Runner, looks insane! I really wanted to ride but since DD was too short I didn't want to make everyone wait for me since the line was on the longer side.
Some things we learned-
-Go to the zoo late in the day!
-Bring bathing suits because there are lots of water rides and locker rooms to change in.
-Go to the back right of the park at opening to get there follow everyone to the right and then make a turn by the sky ride.
We had a really great time. the park was VERY clean & the employees were all friendly and helpful. This is definitely my favorite non Disney park to visit, I'd rather drive the extra hour to get here then visit Dorney which is only an hour away.
Long post.

Thank you both for your advice. We have been there for christmas but never during warm weather. We can't do Disney this year and Hershey was on my list of possibilities.
