Hello, I just got back from fr-qt. If you have any questions I will try to help. corvair

Well here it is some good some bad..........We stayed there 3 years ago and loved it.... We payed for standard room ... I did not know anything about these boards then... We just asked to be near the pool... That trip we were third floor looking right at the pool, could not of had a better room. This time we paid for water veiw........ I request when I booked building 5 pool veiw... I also faxed... We got building 5.......On the clear other side.... If we looked out the window we could see a glimse of the lake...... I was very upset... We paid exta for pool or water veiw... I guess a glimse counted for water veiw... If I would of known that was what I would get I would of not paid extra at all... I would go with another building,,,we would of been closer to the food court and the pool, with building 5 on the other side we were far away from the pool and the food court..... We called and complained..... OH, and befor we knew our room location I was upset our room was not ready, I thought that is OK maybe I am waiting because I requested, which was not the case,,,, It was not ready until 4:30.... We checked in at 2:00, I thought the room should of been ready by 3:00. They said that we could have another room but could not get it for 2 days... we stayed where we were... On another note... the food court was great.. the pool is really nice and the boat to down town was very nice...used it two times.....any thing else let me know...corvair

The room was nice. No complaints.. The rooms are a good size...

Mostly a positive review which is good because it is my favorite moderate. Thanks!;)

Yes pretty much positive. Like I said we stayed there 3 years ago and fell in love with it.. I guess we started out bad.. When we were located far away and paid for water I was disappointed. I thought the room should of been ready by 3:00. The pool is the best. We stayed at WL 4 nights after.. My DD wanted to go back to FR-QT. The pool at WL does not compare to fr-qt. the food court was great... corvair

How was your room cleanliness and mousekeeping-wise? Would you do this resort again?

I just saw your last reply, my decision is between WL and PO-FQ (it would be our first moderate) but we will be spending alot of time in Downtown Disney and I have two young children that really like the look of the pool. (we'll be spending an extra night at the Dolphin after too) Which did you like best?

The room was clean. Mouse service was good. they did not do any thing special,, never saw animal towels like some people talk about.. the room was very clean.... I was disappointed in my room location. we stayed there 2 times now.. would I go back, I guess I would, I like it as much as WL!!!!! If I would of had good room location I might of likes it better. The only thing it needs is a sit down restaurant. We used the one at WL 2 times. It is nice to go back after a long day and get waited on. You could go down to riverside, but that is not like at your own resort. they would shuttle you down if you want.

bthrsoon. How old are your kids?? Mine are 9 she loved fr-qt better..... my 12 year old liked WL. If you are going to downtown, we loved the boat..... the food court is much nicer at fr-qt. do you use it..... the one at WL is diappointing if you use the food court... If you do not then it will not matter... the pool at fr-qt is at least 2 times the size of the one at WL..... How old are your kids... corvari

corvair,
My kids are DS8 and DD4, we have eatten at WL before but this trip will be a short one (we were there over spring break) and we exausted the character meal thing. We will probably be using the food court alot. Thanks so much for the input!

If you are going to eat at the food court then I would choose fr-qt. they have alot of stuff. Even an icecream shop... over at WL it is very limited.. you would have to eat at one of the restarusants.. If you are going alot to Downtown it would take a long time from WL. the boat from fr-qt is very nice... corvair

Does POFQ have a breakfast menu in the food court too? Was it crowded when you were there? Did you try swimming and eating at PO-RS at all while you were there? How far away is that?

Welcome back Corvair!!
I have been waiting for you to return and give us the low down on POFQ!! I was following your posts before you left as we are booked at POFQ in November. I can't beleive they charged you for a water view when you could not see water-would they not give you back the difference? Perhaps it was because building 5 is a "preffered blg" I think they charge extra for it because of its good location. Did you use the hot tub? Was it good, big enough ect? What about the gift shop? Do you recall prices of anything you bought in the foodcourt? Did you walk to riverside at all-how long of a walk? How long was the boat ride to downtown disney? Did you ever have to wait to get on the boat? Is the playground okay-ds will be 10 but eveyone once in a while he likes to fool around on the climber!
If you think of anything else about your stay please post!!

Thanks

grover, I am glad I can help. These boards helped me... We could see the water from the side. we were facing port, even thought it was building 5, I felt we were far, not far as to other resorts because as you know fr-qt is a small resort, but for paying extra we were like i said the other end of building 5 facing port. I just wanted close to pool and playground . the playground is ok. my 9 yearold dd loves it.. the hottub is right by the playground. it is small but about 5 adults and a couple of kids could be in comfortable. the boat to DD was great. Only waited like 5 minutes, it runs every 15 minutes. It only takes 10 minute to get there. It only stops on Market place side. We rode it back, last boat is 11:45. Yes they have good breakfast at food court. Mickey waffles and all kinds of breakfast.. I walked to port.... like I said our room faced that direction. It is a good couple of blocks.. You can ride the boat down from 9:00 on.. I checked the food court out. Iwas going to check out the pool but it was not real close so I did not. If you go down, use the boat or the van shuttle, too far to walk if you do not half to. Where our room was, building 5, 4 would have been better. Alot closer to pool, food court, and playgound and hottub and busses. Our room was closer to the boat dock..... corvairamy

Thanks for your response! I booked a standard room however I did request blg 4 or 5 if they were available- but if not I will be fine with where ever they stick us!! I understand the ressort is smaller than the all stars so no matter where we stay it won't be a long walk.

corvair,

Thanks for the info! Our family has stayed at POFQ many times and we are booked there for December. I am sorry that you didn't get your pool view. Sometimes the way they describe room views is deceiving. I had that problem at CBR a few years ago. I stayed in the room tho, since it was a corner room and had two windows and I love that!

I was glad to hear about the food court. POFQ is our favorite, but the food court choices were the worst out of all of the moderates. I even liked the All Stars food courts better.

I hope the rest of your vacation was fun and magical!

Looking for info about Port Orleans-Riverside, headed there in early August. We'll have two rooms to cover our family of six. Connecting rooms are a high priority. Any input on recent refurbishings that should influence our requests? Any reason we should consider FQ instead of Riverside? Any recent thoughts on Bayou vs. Mansions? Other than the frequently posted "best buildings", are there any that would be truly undesirable? Our boys are 10, 14, 18 and 20, old enough to navigate the resort without constant supervision.

After two wonderful trips to FW, we opted for regular rooms and gained a bathroom this time. We could tell 4 years ago that we had just about outgrown the bunk beds--and I figure the extra bathroom will decrease our morning start-up time considerably! [might even compensate for loss of early entry!] Anybody else out there who has gone back to a moderate from a kitchen unit?

Corvair - Glad to see your post. Sorry about the poor room location. If it were me, I would write Disney and let them know of your dissatisfaction with the "glimpse" of the water you had from your room. Perhaps they will compensate you somewhat for getting what was closer to a standard room than a waterview room. Just a thought. I'm also glad to hear that the condition of the rooms were pretty good. That had me concerned. And, I am so pleased that they changed the food court. That is great! That was the one area that really needed it. Thanks so much for posting. I appreciate it.

Yup I'm Goofys sis
Riverside is also a nice resort. Bigger than FQ. Your kids might prefer the pool at Riverside better. The slide is bigger and a bit more windier (sp?). Geared more toward the older but it isn't anything special. I agree you will really enjoy the two bathrooms. As far as the room difference between AB and Mansions it is all in the decor. Each room has 2 double beds, a table and two chairs, an armoire with drawers and TV. The toilet and shower are separate from the sink area. There are two pedestal sinks with a small shelf above them. There isn't a formal closet but a clothes rack across one wall and you can put suitcases on the floor. Plus there is a small bench along the wall. AB is more rustic and Mansion decor is more elegant. Might want to check out the pics on this site and deb willis' site. They are both good.

We stayed in AB 15 which was a nice location. Close to the food court, first bus stop, quiet pool area. There are also mansion buildings that are centrally located but I can't remember which ones they are. You might want to post your question on a separate thread and you will get more responses.

FQ is much smaller than Riverside. It is also the first bus stop before going to Riverside. It doesn't have a sit down restaurant, though. Also, the arcade at Riverside is bigger and your boys might enjoy that. And, the rental for the bikes, boats, etc. are all at Riverside. It just depends on what you are after. Rooms are the same size. Remember you can use facilities at both resorts.
