Returned from our first Disney trip on October 1st. Had a great time, even though I was nervous about the flight. We arrived on Sept. 26 and stayed at All Star Movies. We were very satisfied with the hotel, although it was a little small. I requested Fantasia Building and got it. We were right near the pool and the food court. Went to Animal Kingdom and enjoyed it. Loved It's Tough to be a Bug, although my 5 year old was scared. We went on the Dinosaur ride and both my kids were scared. I must admit, I was a little too. When AK closed we went over to Epcot. I loved Epcot! The countries were beautiful! We didn't stay for Illuminations that night, but did see it later in the week. It was really beautiful. Sept. 27th went to Magic Kingdom. Wow! I couldn't believe how beautiful it was! There were characters all over the place! My daughters got tons of autographs the first day! They used inexpensive painters hats for autographs. I wouldn't recommend that. Most of the characters had a lot of difficulty signing the part of the hat that went over your hat, and could only sign the brim. If you want to do that, I would recommend a sturdier baseball cap. There was absolutely no crowd and we walked on everything. My 5 year old was scared of the Snow White ride. It was a little scary. We went home about 4:00 to get ready for our 6:30 reservation for Mickey's Backyard BBQ. It was a complete waste of money. My kids were bored and we left early. The characters did not come to the tables, but instead stood in the center. The food was not worth the price. Hot dogs, ribs, corn on the cob, baked beans. On the 28th we went to MGM. It was okay, but my kids were bored. It seemed to be only shows and fast rides. I wanted to go on Rock 'n Roller Coaster, but it was shut down for maintenance. Didn't go on TOT - too scared. Told my kids we would go back and I would go on it, but I never did. On the 29th we had a 10:30 character breakfast at the Crystal Palace. That day was the only day it rained; and it was very light. The breakfast was very good, and the characters stayed at the table for pictures, which the kids loved. We went on Peter Pan, which we all loved. My kids liked It's a Small World, but were scared on the Haunted Mansion. On the 3th we went to Animal Kingdom in the morning and had a late lunch/early dinner at the Rainforest Cafe. The food and atmosphere were very good. We went back to the hotel to swim for awhile and then went to Epcot. Stayed for Illuminations. Wow! It was really beautiful. That was the only night it got cold and, of course, I didn't have sweatshirts for the kids. Had to buy two sweatshirts for them in Epcot. Oct. 1st back to the airport for the flight home. Everything went smooth and we had a great trip. When we got to our house, however, we discovered that our house had been broken into and our car stolen! They didn't get much, my husband's two expensive guitars, about $100.00 in change in a jar I was saving for Christmas, and the comforter off of my daughter's bed! Also got my bank account numbers and Visa number. Tried to withdraw $3,000.00 from my savings account, but thank God they wouldn't let her do it. She also tried to borrow $8,000.00 on my Visa and have it transfered to a Western Union. She tried that a total of ten times and they wouldn't let her becaused they were suspicious because I never make transactions like that. Thank God for people who do their jobs right! Anyway, we know who it was, they got her on surveillance at the bank and they have one of my checks that she stole that she wrote out to herself and tried to cash! Can you believe that it was someone that was a friend of mine since I was 15 years old! She has since disappeared but that police think they have a good chance of getting her. What a way to end a great vactation, huh? But we had a great time and my husband wants to go back the same time next year!

Sounds like you had a great trip - - but -- what a way to lose a friend, huh? You have my heartfelt sympathy on that part of it!

So glad your first trip turned out so well. Hopefully someday your "friend" will see the error of her ways. Sounds like she has some serious problems.

I was just curious how old your children are (well, other than the 5 yr. old). Were they frightened of a lot of the rides. We'll be taking our kids who will be 81/2, 6 and 4 next Oct.

It was nice to hear about your trip, but man, that last part was upsetting!! I feel terrible that someone, let alone a so-called friend, would do that to you. :( :( At least you knew who it was and are able to do something about it, but still...

So glad you had a wonderful first trip and that you are planning on returning. What an awful thing to come home to. Thanks for posting

I'm glad you had such a great trip. My daughter also was afraid of Snow White at 5 yrs old. 2 years later and she still won't go back on it.

Sorry to hear about the break in. That is one of my fears when on vacation.

You have to wonder about the comforter--why in the world would someone steal a comforter? That is one of my worst fears--coming home to a house that has been broken into.

My son was 6 on our last trip and scared of most of the rides--even The Great Movie Ride. He was fine on the Haunted Mansion--go figure.
