Hubby and I just returned from our first trip out with our new to us hybrid. She's a 2011 Sportsmen Classic and a huge improvement over tent camping. We decided to do a short trip for the shakedown and arrived Saturday morning and checked out today, Monday. We booked a preferred site and got site 316. I think 300 is my favorite loop with its proximity to the settlement and near the canal and dog park. It took us about an hour and a half to set up since we had to remember what all to do and in what order as we were shown at the dealership. Breakdown was about the same amount of time, maybe a little less. I am sure as we get a few trips under our belt the time will shorten. After setup we took a nap since I'm pregnant and its now my favorite hobby. :cloud9: After the nap I made us some chilli and rice, fed and walked the beagle, and we went for a bike ride down to the settlement. It was a busy night down there and we managed to catch the Electric Water Pageant (one of my favorite things in all of DW). Finally we took a late night bike ride over to Wilderness Lodge to hit up the Territory Lounge so DH could get a drink and I could get a virgin dacquiri. We turned in around midnight and slept very comfortably! Later I will post some pictures and on to day 2!

That was a quick trip.

Where do Florida people go for longer trips when the Fort is a weekend destination? I know you can stay longer at the Fort, I mean. Did you buy it mostly for Fort trips or are you planning to buy one of those US maps with the state stickers and stick one every time you overnight the first time in that state?

Congratulations and good luck with your little bundle of joy on the way. :beach:

The Fort is definetly our weekend trip and most frequent destination. For longer trips we plan to take it to the Keys, St. Augustine, Stone Mountain, GA, the Smoky Mountains Charleston, SC, probably mostly southeastern states. We dream of eventually taking it all the way out to Yellowstone as DH has never been. Thanks Ed!
