Just back from a long 2 week stay at WDW that included many different parts: business seminar/conference portion, a 3 day pin event in Epcot,a trip to the ER at Celebration Hospital, 2 days spent bedridden, park time, some great meals and my first stay at the BCVs. It was an interesting trip to say the least!
Our villa was not ready when I checked in at 9:00 AM and due to prior commitments I did not get back to BCV until 7:00 pm that night to get our room. They are definitely going by the first come first serve room assignment as far as getting your requests. The only request I had made was I did not want an Epcot view because I did not want to be near the road. Well the only way we could have been any closer to the road would have been if the villa was moved to the middle of the road and the traffic had to drive around us! We were literally tops maybe 100 ft from the road. Right across from us was the back of the Land at Epcot where they are doing construction adding on to the attraction so we also had a great view of the crane and the construction site. Right below us to the right was the air conditioning units for the building and to the left was the plumbing connection pipes for the building. We could see Illuminations from our balcony by looking to the left and the high fireworks were very close and the music could be heard clearly as long as there was not too much traffic. Between the traffic noise, the construction noise and the air conditioning units it was very noisy at times even with the balcony doors shut.
The villa was in very good shape. The bathroom floor did have a few hairs on it, but I think that was from being washed with a mop that needed refreshing. I just wiped down the bathroom floor with a wet paper towel and everything was fine. The whole villa was clean. I loved having the coffee table in the studio and I like the dining chairs very much, very comfy! I was not crazy about the location of the door connecting the 1 br and studio because it makes the studio kitchen area smaller. I did like the extra space in the studio tub/toilet area but missed the space in the studio sink area. We found the air conditioning fine and did not notice it only coming on through a motion sensor, of course I spent alot of time in the room especially for the two days I was bedridden so maybe that was the difference. We found the water pressure to be just fine, maybe there are advantages to being so close to the plumbing connections! LOL! I also loved having elevators located in several locations in the building---very convenient.
I was a little disappointed to see that Disney has eliminated the fancier tiles in the kitchen and bath areas. That little extra touch of the hand painted tiles adds alot to the overall look of the area.
SAB was never crowed there were always tons of seats but they still checked room ids and gave out the wrist bands. There were always plenty of life guards on duty doing the fabulous job they always do. They were doing some work on certain areas of the pool but by yesterday it looked as if that was all completed. Hurricane Hannahs drinks are just as yummy as always. It was about a 10 minute walk from our villa to SAB and the resort restaurants.
The parks were not crowed the first week but park attendance picked up as the 2nd week progressed. The humidity was very high especially the second week, some days the humidty was 92-100%!
Well that about wraps it up. Now I'm counting down until the next trip in 6 weeks for the F&W festival!

Thanks for the report - we'll be making our first trip to BCV in about 3 weeks - F&W and MNSSHP!! After this trip - we will have visited all the DVC resorts..until SSR opens. We've loved them all so far.

Hope your illness didn't detract too much from your trip.

Thanks again!

Thanks for the report and hope you are feeling much better?

I stayed on the Epcot side last dec and also didn't like the road noise.

I think I'll be glad I'm checking in at 7am in October!

Thanks for the trip report. Hope you are feeling better! It is bad enough being sick enough to go to the hospital when you are at home , but when you are on vacation, well, that REALLY STINKS!
I will be there in 8 weeks. My first trip home and I am getting nervous because I requested an Epcot view. It seems that you can get lucky and get a good villa, but if you are not lucky, well, it justs seems there are alot of unpopular Epcot view rooms at the BCV. I HOPE that I am one of the lucky ones.
Wow, I did not realize that SAB was a 10 minute walk from the villas. I was thinking maybe it was about 5 minutes or less. I have stayed at the BWV but never walked over to BC area. I did not realize it was sooooo big.
Well, I hope your next trip goes smoother for you and that you have a better room.

I am feeling much better thanks, I don't have a voice but my family thinks that is a good thing! LOL!! :) I just kept telling myself it was better to be sick in bed in Disney watching the "Tip for Today" on TV than sick in bed at home! LOL!
Not to try and sway your room choice but from my observations after spending a lot of time at BCV over the past 2 weeks the villas with the really better views at BCV are the non Epcot view rooms. There are some Epcot view rooms that are not located very close to the road but they are definitely in the minority while the majority of the non Epcot view rooms have very lovely views and are no where near the traffic and the road. BCV is too super, super, super conveniently located to International Gateway to get to Epcot to see Illuminations in it's full splendor to take a chance with an Epcot view villa at BCV, at least for me--not that I requested this view in the first place; but that is a moot point, LOL!
The walking time estimate from our villa to SAB/resort restaurants is from our villa door to actual arrival to pool/restaurant which includes elevator time etc. It is actually a very nice walk and you pass a gift shop that carries the DVC version of a "full line of groceries" in case you need something for your villa on your way back from the pool.
Have a wonderful trip!!!!:D

I was there last weekend 9/17-24 an thought Hurricane Hannahs drinks were terrible .. imho ..the frozen drink mix was weak ..i had a great time the SAB pool was being worked on in one section but it was still a great time

Last December we had a Epcot view. The road was right in front of us. We really didn't hear the road unless the doors were opened. We were also on the top floor, maybe that made the difference. I specifically asked no to be by the garbage area, that I heard was very noisy.

DeeP - Glad to hear you are felling better! We paid a visit to a clinic while in WDW a few years ago for my DD then 2. I think if I were sick I would rather be in WDW, but for children, it is much better to be home. I had to leave apology messages for my neighbors since my daughter was crying in the middle of the night.  I hope this trip we all remain healthy!

I agree with you that it was hot! Welcome back and glad to hear that you are better - I had to visit the Martha's Vineyard hospital while on vacation this past June - not something you plan for and not fun...

deeP,

Hope you are feeling better!

Do you think the poor response to your room request was due to the time you booked your ressie or the time you checked in?

Thank you for sharing your observations. I am now seriously considering changing my view preference. Now, along with your opinion, I have heard too many people say that the other views are better. I will let you know how I made out when I return with my trip report in 8 weeks( and counting down by the minute.).
I am happy to hear about the little DVC grocery store being right there. I will be making frequent stops there I am sure.

THANKS AGAIN!!

I booked at 7 months for a non DVC home resort, so as far as I can see it must have been due to the new room ready policy and the fact that I did not really check into my room at BCV until after 7:00 PM.

Are the pool views at BCV also parking lot views? I'm trying to envision thsi in my mind. Seems there are Epcot road views or pool parking lot views. I know I'm probably off the mark. What otehr views are there? last BCV trip we had an Epcot view with soem high IllumiNations. We coudl also see the service road. Did my 4 year old daughter at the time notice the service road? NOPE. Did she notice the Epcot ball lit up at night and watch the firworks from the balcony in her PJs? YEP. For now I think we'd prefer the IllumiNatison view over pool because of the kids.
I ahve to agree though that the road doesn't add to the magic.

One tip, get one of thsoe noise makers with white noise, rain showers, etc. We brought one for our last AKL trip and it was a lifesaver. first night we didn't have it hooke dup and were next to the elevator. We heard peopel constanly, soem even taking the stairs...and it echoed loudly. Second night hooked up the noise thing and we all splet beautifully. (although there was noise, wow it was nice being next door to the elevator and hopping staraight down to the AKL pool and Mara for drink refills!)

Thanks for the great trip report. Hope you are feeling better. I have to agree that being sick at Disney is better than being sick at home. I have been ill for nearly 3 months now, and still took our trip in August.

So glad you confirmed what I suspected might be the case with the Epcot views at BCV.

Glad to hear you are feeling better. My son has been to Celebration ER. 3 out of our last 4 trips. All for different reasons. By now they think its an attraction!

DeeP, would you be so kind as to post the room number so I can add it to my list?

Thanks
jaysue

I'm sorry you got sick, too. Gald you were abel to join in on the fun after a couple days. Do you mind me asking how long the wait was to been seen at the ER?
My brother wnet with us four years ago and got sick during our trip. My dad took him to some immediate care place and they were literally gone all day.
How far is the drive to the Celebration ER? Is this the closest ER?
I'm curious as my daughter has a life threatening food allergy plus has developed pretty bad asthma. I never thought until now to even ask this. Last trip she broke out in hives at AKL Boma breakfast even after the chef walked us through the buffet. I'm sure it was a cross contamination issue (buffets scare me) but luckily it was mild enough that Benadryl did the trick and no need for the EpiPen. Wdw has always been very good about allergies, thsi was a first for us.
Has anyoen been taken by ambulance whiel on property? I wonder how long it woudl take to get help and get to the ER???

Wow, jaysue! Keeping a list? I'm very impressed! This is one thing I've always regretted not doing - keeping room numbers of all the resorts we've stayed at. Just never ahve done thsi and probably never will. Why? I don't know...

SHAN. well from the AKL ....Celebration ER is an easy cab ride about 12 dollars. Bell services will call one for you. Wait times at that particular ER vary. We have waited as little as 20 minutes at 2 am. On another vist about 10 minutes of course they knew us by then  . As far as Location from the Boardwalk again I cabbed it back from the ER it was about a 16 dollar fare to the Boardwalk. They claim guest services will reimburse you, But I didn't see why they should so I never did it. On our last trip, Our son got as straw in his eye at MGM, And we foolishly drove him to the ER. We should have had rescue take us as we were there the entire day. We arrived with A SCREAMING 2 year old, around 1pm, and he wasn't seen till 4pm! So live and learn, God forbid you should need them, I have found them very kind.

thansk twinmomplus2. A strwa in his eye? OMG!!! And they made you wait that long with a littel one? What happened?!?

So far we've been to the ER a few times with an allergic reaction.
From my experience soem doctors are more knowledgable about the seriousness of a peanut allergy than others and she usually gets taken back before I can even sign her in. Things can progress really fast.

sounds like the wait can really vary in length.

How long was the drive from BWV?

448/450 but really any of the rooms on that whole side of the building had the same location to the road. They did not all have the added attractions of the air conditioning units, plumbing connection pipes and direct view of a construction site though, LOL!
