We stayed at AOA for the second time this past week and had an amazing time. We stayed in Nemo suites, with great proximity to the pool. We used a box fan and were never woken by outside noises.
As there has been a lot of discussion on mousekeeping and afternoon room checks I thought I'd report my experiences. We had no afternoon check ins at all.
We were called prior to the trip and we're offered the gift card for waiving mousekeeping. We declined that offer. With six of us in a suite for six days there was no way that would be worth it. After the first night when we came back for an afternoon break it was clear that the room had been picked up a bit but pool towels were left on the bathroom floor and we didn't have our coffee making items restocked. The next morning we got by and figured that day would be better. It happened that our elderly mothers were in the room when mousekeeping came. Trying not to disturb them (I believe), the mousekeeper said, oh we'll come back later. My mil said, oh but wait can we have coffee supplies and we have some towels that need to go. The mousekeeper dropped coffee packets (no cups) on the bed and told my mil there was a basket of laundry in the hallway and that she (my mil) could bring it out.
When I returned my mil reported this to me and I was flabbergasted. I went down to the front desk and the woman I spoke to was taken aback by the report. I honestly just wanted to be sure that mousekeeping improved for the rest of the trip. They ended up giving us a credit of half off each of those first two nights on our room. So we could use it for room charges or it would go back into our account at the end of the trip. This was above and beyond what I expected. In addition to that we we're contacted each day by mousekeeping to be sure we had what we needed. I think this is one of those things where, it's unfortunate it happened but Disney did what they are known for and went above and beyond with their costumer service. I think it's also important to make aa repor in a timely manner and politely so they can make it right asap.
