I do want to thank everyone for their help in planning our trip to Disneyland. We are from the east, so we go to WDW most of the time, but my DH's conference took us to California, so we had the chance to visit DL.
Here are just some random comments before I leave this DIS board (at least for a while, looks like in 2006 we may get to go back to California for him conference again).
--Stayed at the Disneyland Hotel, and it was charming, but wished we had stayed at the Grand Californian instead. My kids are 10, so I thought they would like the DL Hotel better, and we did enjoy it (the water show was cute, at night the pixie dust from Tinkerbell on the wallpaper boarder glowed in the dark, it was nice have a fridge in the room, the rooms were a good size). When I saw how you could just walk right out into the California Adventure park or Downtown Disney from the Grand Californian Hotel, *I* wanted to stay there!
So next time, we will be there instead.
--The parks were VERY crowded. I guess it was spring break because there were a lot of local people there.
--No one told me we would try riding a Segway!!!!! This was one of the highlights of our trip! DH and I have always wanted to try this, and on the Disney Cruise you can try it (for a charge), but the times never worked out for us. At DL Innovations, you can try it for FREE if you are 16 years old or older! It was cool!
--The Aladdin Show was the best! The very best show at any of the Disney Parks (but the Disney Cruise still have the absolute best shows of all).
--Got to ride in the front of the monorail. We asked the driver and he said yes! It was fun!
--The Candy Cane Inn was very nice! We moved there on Friday & Saturday (used DVC points for the Disneyland Hotel for the weekday nights). Thank you SO MUCH for recommending it! It was much easier to do laundry there than at the DL Hotel (which only had 2 machines that were always busy).
--We liked the California Adventure park, we really did!!!! So many places we have read that it is not that great, but we really enjoyed it. The 'maze' area where they have the Brother Bear show was so much fun for my kids. We really liked the Animation Information area by the Playhouse Disney theater (I forget what it was called for sure). There is a lot of fun things in there, including a place where you can put your voice into an animated show! We really enjoyed that place.
ANYWAY, those are just some of my thoughts and comments on my trip. We hope to go back in 2006, but won't know for another year or more if that will happen. If we do, I will be back on this board again.
Thanks again for all the wonderful information shared here. You guys are great!
