Just back from 8 days in WDW. We had a great time! We even got hit 3 times by YOAMD! :) The first was a CM who walked up to my son in the MK and asked him if he liked cotton candy, then gave him free cotton candy and a YOAMD certificate. Then later we were walking through Fantasyland and a CM said, "Psst... can you help me?" We walked into the store and she asked DS if he could help her match up the correct names with the faces of the Seven Dwarfs. He did it and got another certificate. He got a big kick out of it. He got a few stickers throughout the week, too. Then, on our last day we got the dream fastpass at AK! But we had already gotten fastpasses for Everest and Dinosaur and ridden everything else at that point, so we decided that instead of using all the fastpasses again, we'd pass it on to someone else. So on our way out (we were doing a half day at AK) we stopped a couple on their way in and gave them the dream fastpasses. They were delighted! Confused at first, but delighted once we explained it. :)

All week the crowds were very small. We waited once for 20 minutes and the rest were 5 minutes or under. We used fastpass often, but didn't need to sometimes. On Tuesday, Splash was a 5 minute wait, FP machines covered. AK had 10 minute waits on Thursday for Everest and Dinosaur. It was great! Then came the weekend... ACK! I don't know why but the weekend was ridiculously packed. We went to the AK Saturday morning and MK in the afternoon. Buzz was 110 minutes, Peter Pan 70 minutes, Pirates 45 minutes, etc. All these rides were walk on during the week!

All in all, it was a great week. The new Nemo ride was cute. The Little Einsteins character lunch at H&V was fantastic. My son had a blast.

Any questions?

ETA: Another interesting thing that happened was that our truck blew out a tire on the safari ride at AK! It was our first time at AK so we all thought it was part of the ride. There was a bang and hiss and the truck stopped and the driver talked into his headpiece. Then he turned to us and said, "This is real folks!" Maintenance came in a pickup truck and changed the tire right then and there and we were driving again in about 15 minutes. That's something that doesn't happen every day! :)

Wow! it sounds like you had a great time!! Tons of Disney Magic!!

I also should mention that most of the Christmas decorations are up. Animal Kingdom had big Christmas trees. The characters in Camp Minnie Mickey are all dressed up for Christmas (Santa hats, scarves, etc) and they played Xmas music through the speakers. At the MK they had a couple trees up and the wreaths and garland are up. That was fast! One day, Halloween, next day Christmas!

Glad your trip was so magical!! Your son sounds like one lucky little fellow. And thanks for the update on the Christmas decorations.

Sounds like you were there during the time that we hope to be there next year. I am glad to hear that the crowds were low and that you had such a great time. Did you guys take in any of the F&W Festival events? Just curious. Maggie

We didn't do any of the F&W events, but my DH did buy a few tasty apps from the F&W booths. I believe he tried Mexico, Thailand, and Germany. Mexico was ok, but his food from Thailand and Germany were both undercooked.

Sounds like you had a very magical trip. This is such a great time of the year to go! Low crowds and beautiful weather!
Thanks for sharing!

About the H&V lunch- We would love to take DGS (age 3) but would the older grandchildren like it (ages 6-10)? TIA

The 3 yo will LOVE it. The older ones probably won't want to dance around and participate, but they'll enjoy the food. HTH.

Thanks Kimmy! How was meeting characters outside of doing character meals? We can't figure out how to squeeze in that little einsteins meal but the kids are so fired up to see them at MGM. Caroline doesn't believe me so can you confirm, are there Little Einsteins toys/plushes/dolls/actions figures etc. to be purchased?

How was Everest? Did DS try it or Dinosaur?

Isn't that somethin'...even though I have been on the safari before, I would have thought the same thing..."oh, this tire blowing out dealy must be new to the program" :rotfl:

Glad you had a blast--makes me pine away for our trip next October :goodvibes

We met a TON of characters. Toontown, random areas around the MK, Camp Minnie-Mickey at AK plus the Rafiki area, the EPCOT Character Connection, and all over MGM. June and Quincy were on Mickey Ave at the trailers. June and Leo were at the lunch. So, we never met Annie. Yes, there's a ton of LE stuff to purchase. I saw a whole bunch at Once Upon a Toy at DTD. DS got a Quincy plush because Quincy is his favorite.

DH and I did both Everest and Dinosaur. Both are AWESOME! I looooved Everest. DS did not try either. We had kind of a weird situation. He was kind of a wimp this trip! Last year, at age 3, the Haunted Mansion was his favorite ride. He also loved Splash Mountain. This year at age 4, we went on the HM and he FREAKED OUT. I have never seen him so terrified. And after that he refused to go on Splash. How could he loved it a year ago and fear it now? He was much more fearful this year. I have no idea why. I hope it's a phase that passes before January. ;)

Kimmy - C is definitely more scared this year than last. Last year ToT was no problem, this year she's saying she doesn't want to do it. (Ok by me to skip that one :lmao: ) She did BTRR about 10 times. This year she's wavering on EE and doesn't want to do Space Mtn.

Last year D was our chicken and this year he's talking braver. I think 4 through 5 is where they start to have enough common sense to be scared but not enough to realize it's pretend.

Thanks for sharing your magical trip with us! I can hardly wait for our trip!

I love reading posts like this. Thank you! I'm glad your trip was so great. I only hope that mine is half as good as yours!
