We Dined with Shamu tonight. We had a great time. They only had one seating, at 4:15pm. They already had the tables pre-assigned. When you checked in, you were given a card with your table number. When it was time to enter the dining area, a server showed you to your table. I would guess there were about 15 families eating. Each family was given a Pool-Side table.
I thought the food was fine. They had roasted turkey, roasted chicken, beef stew, rice pilaf, mashed potatoes, regular and ceasar salad, and much more. There were chicken nuggets, macaroni & cheese, hot dogs for the kids. There was more food, but I can't remember. There was a big assortment of items for dessert. I had the chocolate covered strawberries and they were very good.
All during the dining time there were two "Shamus" swimming around. After dinner, there was a 10 minute show with the whales. They covered the whole dining area, so you were able to get at least one up close and personnel view. After the show, 4 trainers came over and went table to table and answered any questions. It appeared to us that the trainers would stay at your table for as little or as long as you wanted. We were one of the last tables visited and probably spoke with the trainer for about 3 - 5 minutes. We spoke with another trainer for about 2 minutes as well.
For us, it was well worth the money and I would probably do it again given the opportunity.
