ok im just back from a wonderful trip and heres my opinion on these resorts..my first impession of CSR was how well the themeing was done and just that this is a very pretty resort both in the day and night..the pool was awesome as was the waterslide..the room was what i expected except i thought the carpet is in urgent need of replacement or at least a good cleaning and to be resretched..we were in cabana 8a and although i enjoyed the wide variety the food court had to offer i only ate their once because after a long hot day at the parks i just didnt think the walk(as pretty as it was) was worth it-although i must admit if i didnt have to push/carry my 4 year old son all day the walk would not have been a problem at all!!!i also would like to mention that ther was a big convention going on and i did not even notice..ok now for riverside which has just become my new favorite resort--i just fell in love with this place..im not sure why because i liked the food selection and the pool better at CSR but i there is just something about this place that i really really enjoyed(i loved the look and feel of this resort) and the playground and fishing by the main pool is every little boys dream-needless to say my son said that this was his favorite place that we've stayed(and this past year we have stayed at all star music.CBR,WL and now these )..we stayed in magnolia terrace and were right by the main pool/playground and just a short walk to the food court..i have always said that every time we go i would like to stay at a different resort but after staying here i would feel like im missing out on something so good-so now im not sure whether i will try POFQ next or not because on the boat to DT the building just didnt appeal to me they all looked the same but it was night time so i guess i will have to look at some more pics of it..anyway if anyone has any questions i will try and answer them(tomorrow) because i am pooped and going off to never never land.

wow,
I just got back from POR yesterday I wonder if we bumped into each other and didn't know it. ha ha.
As packed as it was I doubt it.
I myself wouldn't stay anywhere but Port Orleans both Riverside and FQ are nice I personally think FQ is quieter but that's probably because there is 1/2 the number of rooms...

:)

Glad you enjoyed your stay at the CSR. Piglet203 and I will be there in 19 days! We can't wait to be there and hearing so many good reviews about the resort just makes us want to be there even more!

Mickey76:)

So the boats to DD are running now? Is the POFQ open? We're staying at Riverside May 30 and 31 and hope to use the dragon slide at the POFQ pool as well.

Hi glad you enjoyed your stay. I was wondering how far Magnolia Terrace is from the main pool? We stayed in Alligator Bayou last time and while we absolutely loved the layout of the resort (the landscaping was beautiful) I didn't care for the rustic look of the bayou rooms. We are staying at CSR this coming June and my dd (9) is so looking forward to the dig site pool. I think she's more excited about the pool than the whole trip itself. :)

Thanks.

daltonsdodisney--yes the boats are up and run from 4-11:45(the cm said midnight but the boat driver told us last pick up is at 11:45) and the night we went we got picked up around 11:30 and there were a lot of people still waiting that didnt get on the boat so i figured another one would be picking them up since it wasnt 11:45 yet but we didnt see another boat on the ride home and when i got off i asked and he said nope he was the last boat of the night and that they would have to take a bus back but i dont rember him telling the people in line that but maybe i just wasnt paying attention--as far as FQ it is supposed to be opening on may 31 so it looks like you guys will get to do the water slide(lucky)

jewelray- magnolia terrace is very close to the main pool and also if you go around the main pool to the left there is the bridge to the food court--i was worried because on the map it looked far but i think magnolia terrace is a very convenient location and its also very pretty--in the pics i seen before leaving i was torn because i liked the landscaping on AB side but the rooms on magnolia bend but for anyone whos going the magnolia bend side has very beautiful landscaping as well

Thanks so much for commenting on your recent stay at the POR. My family and I are going there for the first time in July. We originally booked in the ASPC, but it will not be open in time so we upgraded to the POR. In the past we stayed at ASM and loved it. My only concern is the resort looks SOO BIG that the food and pools are really far from the room. I called and requested one of the mansions(due to reading these message boards) but I dont know if I will get one. Is there anything, one thing, advice or comment you can give me that would make it better for us?..thanks in advance
Dee

We were only at POR for one night, but I enjoyed it, too. I know exactly what you mean about the atmosphere there--very southern, laid back feel.

Like you, we stayed in the Magnolia Terrace section of the mansions and it was quite convenient to the large pool and main building (Cotton Co-Op?). We didn't have the opportunity to do a great deal of exploring, but I did find the resort inviting.

Glad you had a good time!

2ndvice i would just send a fax a few days before requesting magnolia terrace(IMOP is the most conveinant mansion) and most likely you will get it--when we arrived the cm told us the resort was sold out and we could either wait a while and then we could get in MT or stay in AB and our room would be ready right now--well am i glad we waited(and it only turned out to be 35 min anyway)..i know how you feel when i would look at the map on the computer which i did over and over i was like wow i really want to stay but it looks like everything is spread out..and my 4yr old son loved this place so much -he never once coplained like he did at CSR(which is beautiful) but whenever we would walk to food court he would say are we there yet??just like on the drive up??ha ha..you will have a great time -when we walked in and looked outside(just outside the food court --it made me feel like i was staying on main street in MK which whenever i first see when we arrive makes me feel all warm inside..i just fell in love with this place

hello again KMC and thanks for your earlier reply. I was wondering however if you could estimate the amount of walking time from cabana 8a (which is where I requested) to the food court. A 5 or 7 minute walk isn't too bad for my 9 yr old but I hope it isn't too much more than that. Thanks.

hi jewelray...its probably about that(5-8min) if your walking at a normal pace(but if your in 8a do not follow the sign that says PM this way--that is the long way-just go to the bridge thats around the pool the one that connects 9b to the pool and its a lot faster ) --and like i said if i didnt have a 4 yr old the walk would have been no problem(its a very pretty walk)..also when your in 8a you will be right next to the pool which was great and the bus stop is also right there..and the day we spent at the pool and didnt do the parks was great because you can order snacks like nachos and get a burger right there which is what we did ..have a great trip!!!

Thank you very much for all of the information. I will have a great trip especially with all of the planning and reading of these boards that I have done :D My daughter insisted upon staying at the CSR and it does look like a beautiful resort. I think if we ever stay at POR again though, I'll definitely request the MT. They look so rich and stately. I think my daughter will be okay with the walk and thanks for the tip about the bridge. We may not even get to the PM that much anyway since we'll be in the parks for much of the time. I was planning on ordering room service in the morning too! Take care.

KMC and everyone else,
Thanks so much for the information. That walking was kinda bothering me but like you said the resort is so beautiful that you didnt mind the walk. I will definetly call before we arrive for the MT. My family (DH.DD 8 and DS12) love Disney so much that I truly believe that we live for our next visit. We tried to go every 4-5yrs..depending on $. I will let you all know how it was. We are going from 7/6-7/20. Booked everything: Hoop de Do, Cirque De Soleil, Character Breakfasts and Dinners> JUST CANT WAIT!!
Thanks again all...
Dee:p

5george--that really depends beccause if you have a rental car and plan on driving eveywhere it wouldnt matter where you stay...everytime i have gone we have always used the buses/boats/monerails because once i get there i dont even like to look at my car...as far as buses go i thought they were great we never waited more than 5 min for any bus..as far as 9A in my opinion if you dont plan on eating at PM all the time i would request 8A because its closest to the main pool and bus stop-you can also get snacks and drinks there from noon til 7pm--if you plan on eating at PM frequently i would request 9B because it is closest to PM and the there is a bus stop close to it also..if you are in 9A you will be in between and have a farther walk to buses, pool, and PM which IMO if you only had older kids these walks are nothing but you mentioned a 2 yr old and i know my 4 yr old and i had to push/carry him to PM which is the last thing i wanted to do after doing it all day at the parks..have a great trip this resort is beautiful and both you and your kids will love the pool.

WAS THE MAIN POOL AT CSR VERY CROWDED?
I HAVE CHANGED MY REQUEST FROM CABANA 8A TO CASITA 4 TO
