Just back from CR - Can I be of assistance.

Wow...I'm glad ya got the upgrade -- but that speaks to the lack of interest in others booking concierge at the the CR!!!

I had family members who were recently offered an upgrade to Concierge at the WL (they declined). Someone else I know was upgraded recently at the GF. It happens everywhere, not just at the Contemporary. The Contemporary is also a major convention hotel - so if there is no convention, then there is more liklihood of an upgrade. There are many times when there is very little or not availability at all at the hotel.

Slug: Congrats:thumbsup2 Please tell more about the food options and your view! Would love pics if you have them!
Aussidaisy: Congrats to you guys on the MSN! Also a nurse ( MSN Nursing Admin)We will be staying CR Tower Club Nov. 25 - Dec.2. I get so excited to see opinions of the CR!

The view was exactly as I had read about on these boards - fantastic. It would be very difficult to stay somewhere else in the future. My dd3 loved being able to see Cinderella's house every morning. And it was nice to be able to watch the fireworks and then put her to bed 5 minutes later instead of fighting thru crowds to get out of the park.

The CL food was good. If I'm ever on that floor again, I'll definately not schedule adr's for a couple of breakfasts as the food put out is definately good enough for breakfast. In the evening (5-7), they'd put out 2 hot appetizers and a cheese tray, veggies, wine, beer, etc. In the afternoon, they'd put out things like cookies, brownies, soda, etc. It was nice to grab something and bring it to the room.

I have a ton of pictures. The next step is learning how to post some of them.

Slug, congrats on the upgrade! When you were upgraded did you still get an MK view? I'm going in September and paid for an MK view. I personally wouldn't want an upgrade to concierge if I couldn't get my MK view.

Yes, we still had the MK view. I actually asked about that when they told me about the upgrade. I think I would have politely declined the upgrade if it wan't an MK view room. I know the other view is great too, but I was looking forward to the MK view.

I have seen other posts of guests saying they have been upgraded to other Club Level Floors besides the Contemporary. I would find some examples and post the links on here, but everytime I do a search on my computer for old threads my computer freezes. So I agree that they seem to happen a lot at the Contemporary, however they do happen at the other Deluxe Resorts. Just not as often but they do happen at the Contemporary, so it's great news for anyone when it happens to them.

Maybe you can help me with a question I have. I was looking up the rates on this site to see what the CL room rate was. Is it the "Concierge Club Standard" or the "Tower Club Standard" rate? I don't know the difference.

The room I booked was a MK Tower room for $445 per night. With the AP discount, it was down to $344 per night. Combined with the bump, it looks like we got a fantastic deal on that CL room.

The differences is this. Tower Club Standard is for a regular room on the 14th floor Tower Club. It's just like the Atrium Club on the 12th floor, however there is a total of 16 rooms and only 5 Standard rooms. The rest of the rooms up there are suites. Another difference is the lounge is a lot smaller when compared to the 12th floor, however it's a lot more quitter then the 12th floor. By that I mean the 14th floor does not look down onto the 4th floor like the other Tower floors do, so you don't hear what is going on at Chef Mickey's and everything else that happens. I should also tell you a standard room costs more on the 14th floor and I guess it's because there are less of them. So in the end you would be paying a bit more per night and getting the exact same services that you would on the 12th floor.

Those are some very good points which you bring up. :thumbsup2

To the OP, congrats on an awesome, magical upgrade:woohoo:

Our stay @ CR, MK view was fantastic (luv DVC but location and view give the nod to CR imo)...come on DVC:wizard:

As to blocks of rooms for conventions, i'm told they open up a month out if not booked.
