I'm just writing a quick review to offer another, different experience from our trip to the CR 2 weeks ago.
This is absolutely not to be argumentative with the other thread about a recent, disappointing stay. I just want to offer an alternative opinion for those considering staying at the CR.
We checked in 3 weeks ago, arriving at the front desk at 10:30 am. I expected to just check our bags and wait for the room to be ready at 3pm, but it was ready already. And to top that off, we had been bumped from a MK view room to a MK view room on the concierge level. Needless to say I was very pleased.
I informed the CM that we were going to have a couple staying with us for a couple of nights during our stay and that I was aware that there would be an additional charge of $25 per person for the nights they were there. She said to forget about it and printed them out room keys for the entire length of our stay.
I was very impressed by the newly renovated room - very modern, etc. And while I didn't look too closely, the room was clean upon check-in and was cleaned to my expectations every day.
My complaint about the room would be that there was not a lot of drawer space. Not a big complaint, but just mentioning it.
Our computer didn't work when we got in. I called a number that was given to me by the front desk, and tech support fixed it remotely in 5-10 minutes. We enjoyed the free internet access for our whole stay. Whether or not that has changed in the last 2 weeks, I don't know.
Every night when we got back, our beds were turned down and a bunch of little chocolates were left near the pillows. That was a nice little touch.
Another thing that was cool was watching the fireworks from the balcony on the nights we were in the room at that time. Also, you could see a bit of the electrical water pageant, although I believe we couldn't really hear the sound.
The only area I didn't like to look at in the resort was the site of the former arcade. Because it has been moved, the food area is a little dark now. Where the windows were before, now it is blacked-out. But the food there was good so no complaints there.
The pool was nice. Didn't get a chance to sit in the hot tub portion but my dd3 absolutely loved the pool itself. Also, being able to just walk downstairs from the room and rent those little boats was a convienience I had forgotten about.
The 4th floor was a bit different than I remembered it, but once the renovation is complete you can tell it's going to look nicer. Right now that whole wall where fantasia used to be is a bit bland. But it's pretty exciting for the kids with the new arcade and chef mickey's right there. Breakfast at chef mickey's was good, but we thought the food was better at a couple of other breakfast places instead. The crystal palace stood out.
When we checked out, I asked for a late check-out, hoping I could get it moved to noon. They checked and got back to me, telling me we could check out as late as 1:30pm, which was great.
Overall, the whole week went remarkably smoothly (but a bit fast unfortunately). We were very impressed with the resort. I hadn't stayed at the CR in at least 10 years, but in the future it will be very difficult for us to stay anywhere else. Between the view, the location, and the convienience of being able to either walk to the MK or take the monorail there, it was really perfect for us. I haven't stayed at the Poly before, but I've stayed at the GF a number of times and I have to say, we prefer the CR now.
I hope this might be helpful for anyone thinking about staying there. Good luck.
