We stayed in the Contemporary Tower first for 6 nights and could have waited for an MK view (we arrived at 2pm), but having never tried the Bay Lake view, we opted to take that room immediately. We were on the 5th floor (read lowest) in the room second from the end, right over Chef Mickeys. I was a little concerned since I had read some reviews complaining of noise on that end. Happily, we never had any problem whatsoever from any Chef Mickey's noise, and, in fact, the kids really enjoyed looking down at the characters as we passed back and forth. Anyway, we thought the room was great, in excellent condition etc.... Our only complaint was really due to overlooking the pool. While we enjoyed the view and actually thought it was in some ways nicer than the MK view, we did not enjoy the outrageously loud hot tubbers at 3am. I don't know how anyone facing the pool from the south garden wing could stand it, as they were much closer than we were. What are people thinking who scream and yell like that in the middle of the night? I decided I would hold out for the quieter MK view next time.

Anyway, we enjoyed the pool and slide, rain and lightening permitting, we loved being on the monorail and the kids enjoyed the Mousketeer Club and the arcade. I didn't know it, but they had ski-ball and my husband and kids played games for tickets and armed the whole family with little water guns that work GREAT! Even the 4 year old can pull the trigger, which is often a problem for him. They were a lot of fun and we had other kids asking to use them at the pool. I did laundry in the south garden wing and was glad I had my own detergent as the dispenser was broken. I will say, when they sent someone over with detergent for someone else later, they did not charge him, and, at our suggestion, left the whole pile they had brought on top of the dispenser for people to use for free. That was the right thing to do.

We moved to AKL on a resort day and our room was ready at 1pm or so and we had giraffes outside our room right when we checked in - pretty cool. We like the room a lot, but it was noticably smaller than the Contemporary room and had much less storage, so we were a little messier. The arcade was smaller and no games to win tickets, but the pool was fantastic and I prefered it to the Contemporary pool, even though the Contemp Slide is better. The Hot Tubs were very, very hot, but that was welcome during this cool rainy week. I did laundry here and they offer wheeled carts to roll your folded clothes back to the room which was a nice addition. The kids liked Simba's clubhouse, although I found they were very rigid with their rules about turning off the video games and lying on a mat at a certain time. My boys didn't like that part very much, but as the lady said to me, "rules are rules." At the Mouseketeer Club and the Neverland Club this mat time was not enforced. I will say, the kids still begged to go back the next night. Mara was great, breakfast at Boma I would skip next time. We just don't eat $60 something dollars worth of any food in the morning. We also bought a lot at the marketplace there. They have neat African knickknacks.

Sounds like you had a wonderful stay at both resorts!:D

Sounds like a wonderful trip!!!

So glad to hear so much positive about the Contemporary! We are hoping to stay there on our next trip.

Regarding your AKL Deluxe room .... Did you have the Queen/bunk/day bed room? What savannah did you overlook? Am staying there later this month and was wondering if you had any suggestions on which room view to request?

Sounds like you had an enjoyable stay. We stayed in the tower (MK side) last year and we loved it. One night we watched the MK fireworks from our balcony and even saw Tinkerbell (she was about the size of a fly...)

I am also interested in the Deluxe Savannah view room? What did you have for a view? What trail were you on and what floor?

Thanks so much and welcome back! :)

We were on the 5th floor, room 5506 on the zebra trail. We did have one queen, bunks and a daybed and the kids each took a turn on the top bunk. Our view was good - giraffes, bongos, etc... but perhaps the rooms on the other side of the hall with views of arusha rock would be better.

Oh, and I didn't request a certain Savannah, but did request bunk beds and a room on zebra trail. It is very, very convenient to the pool, arcade, Mara, Simbas clubhouse etc...
