We returned Tuesday from 5 nights at CBR (May 17-22) with DH, DD (6) and DS (20mo) Long report not ready yet, but the fly by version is this:

Arrived early at 11 a.m. No lines at check in, a room was ready but it was on the 2nd floor in Barbados. I asked for first floor and closer (as had been noted on my res) and they were able to put us in Martinique Bldg 22. (Room 2215) We did have to wait a little over an hour for the room to be ready but it was SO worth it.

Bldg 22 was steps from both the quiet pool and the village bus stop and not a bad walk at all to Old Port Royale (food/theme pool) Our room itself had a lovely lake/beach view and we could see Illuminations out the window for the nights the kids retired early. Our mousekeeper was great and made a wonderful towel birthday clown window display for DD's birthday. (CBR also sent an autographed card as well!)

The bus service was okay... would have been fine if DS didn't seem to have an aversion to riding them. The rides to/from parks were okay but the trek throught he resort to pickup/dropoff at all the stops was long for him. For the most part it was fine though we did have some random long waits. Par for the course.

The food court worked out great for us. Not a huge variety but plenty for the average vacation. Everything we tried was quite good, though I wish there were more kids options and alternatives.

The wildfire smoke was a total non-issue for us the entire time, and the lovebugs, though plentiful, were not too bad.

All said, DD had a wonderful 6th birthday and the Disney magic was in full force for her. More to come with photos too!

I'm glad you liked CBR. We stayed there several years and loved it. In fact, we were in Martinique #22 as well, though I don't recall the room number. We were on the second floor, overlooking the quiet pool. It was perfect. The bus stop was close and the walk to the food court was short and most enjoyable. I would stay there again in a heartbeat and would definitely request Martinique, though trying a different section would be fun as well.

Thanks for the update. We also stayed in Martinque during our stay at CBR, and could see the fireworks from our room. It was really nice to be able to watch them from our room; especially during a cold December night. ;)

Im glad you had a great time how was the walk distance?
I can help with that one. Martinique 22 is NOT a preferred location room (meaning it's not one of the 6 buildings closest to Old Port Royale), but it's 2 buildings away from a preferred location building, so it's not a bad walk at all. I'd estimate that a walk from 22 to OPR would take about 5 minutes. Maybe 6 if you just had a big meal.;)

We are staying at CBR in August. I just called Disney and requested Barbados #15. Is Martinique #22 a lot closer? About how far away is Barbados 15 from the food court? Thanks - Lori

SaraPosh, glad to hear you had a great time at CBR. Could you do me a favor and copy and paste your CBR review into the CBR FAQ thread listed below? Thanks.

Thank you for your review. We are staying T CBR in October for my DGD 6th birthday and are looking forward to it. We requested Martinique in a preferred building. Glad to hear that you liked your location.

If all you did was request a preferred building most likely you won't get it. The preferred buildings cost extra nightly but they are worth the money.

We paid the extra fee and booked the preferred room. I requested Martinique. I also think the money will be well worth it, this old girl does not want to hike for her morning coffee :rotfl:

Martinique 22 is closer. A lot closer? Depends on your sense of proportion. The distance from Barbados 15 to Martinique 22, along the Promenade, is about the length of one of CBR's buildings (the long way), probably about an extra 2 minutes' walk.

I never knew how far one building was until I requested and was granted a water view room at POFQ. Building #1. I had carried my sleeping usually light as a feather now weighing a ton of bricks 5 YO dgd from the Castle, to the bus stop, an amazingly long ride home while the bus driver took us on the scenic route through SSR, and then the final long walk to the room. Oh my word, I am not sure what I would have given for one less building to cross :lmao:. That less than two minutes seemed as though it took two hours. Says not good things about me, but oh my goodness, that was one long trek! :guilty:
