Just returned Saturday from our first stay as DVC members. We had a studio at BWV. Very nice, but there were a couple times I thought to myself, Amen Rich.

We were 3 rooms from the end. From our room it only took us 9 minutes to walk to MGM, which was nice, but when returning from anywhere else or walking to the Boardwalk Bakery it was a hike! I just had to laugh thinking about all the conversations on the boards about the length of the hall ways at BW.

The F+W was excellent. You could really see an increase in people on Friday and Saturday. Monday - Thurs the crowds were light. I don't think we waited longer than 10 minutes for anything.

Oh well. Back to cold weather and dreaming about our first stay at OKW for spring break.

Glad you had a good time. Wasn't it great to stay at Disney for the first time as members? We had our first DVC trip last month, and I was just so happy to know we have many more years of it!

We are staying in a studio in April for the first time at the BW. So in hindsight, what would you have said in your request...should we just simply say "near an elevator" and that would suffice to avoid a long walk? The view isn't really important (nice, but not important)...a long walk, now thats important. thanks.

Our room was the very last one down the longest hallway EVAR (by my estimation).

I had never experienced anything like that before in my life.. When we first checked in I though we had to be lost and turned around to find a sign....

Amazing!

The hallways are long, I always think of the hallway they show in the Haunted Mansion.

However, I think the complaints are exaggerated. Some of the buildings at OKW are a far distance from a bus stop or the main building. Think of how far it is to walk from the MK entrance to the Castle. I just read a post on the transportation board where someone wants to catch 2 monorails and walk through Epcot to avoid the BW bus. Now that's a walk!

I love those way far from the elivator rooms. Particularly the ones around then bend facing the tennis courts & Valet parking lot.

Like the post stays 9 min from MGM. Also just down the stairs and right out to the Bus Stop.

The walk never bothers me in the hall going to the elivator, I guess it is perspective but I like the far away rooms.

I hope no one gets the impression we had a problem with where our room was, because that's not the case. Compare it to other resorts we've stayed at on property and the walk to the room was not a big deal. It was very quiet, but we did have to work our way past quite a few housekeeping carts each morning.

I was more trying to relate the chuckles I had to myself while walking to the room when I thought about all the BWV vs. OKW arguments on which resort was better.

I think with every resort there is good and bad. I'd take a stay at the BW over the Poly or CR any day even though you can take the monorail to MK. The walk to the cabins in FW from the bus stops is a marathon compared to the walk to the rooms in BW.

We prefer being within walking distance to Epcot and MGM over the convenience of the monorail or boat transportation to the MK. But that's just us. That's what makes WDW the best. If everyone like the same park and same resort, we'd never be able to enjoy them.

The BWV hallways never bothered me either. I just find it hard to get a room there usually at the 7 month window.

I do love the location though!

Caution about what you wish for: If you request near an elevator you get all the noise from everyone walking by to get to rooms further down the hall.

Believe me - much worse than the walk! First hand experience!

We just stayed at SSR in room 2203. It was the room next to the last one in the hallway. As we were bringing our stuff up the elevator to the room, all I could think of was BWV hallways. Only it wasn't straight. There were zigs and zags all over the place. We finally used the stairwell at the end of the building even hauling our stuff down the stairs instead of going to the elevator. Room was great, though. View of DTD and quiet pool. We used this pool more than we used the themed pool.
