My two DD's, 14 and 19 and I just got back from BWV, our home resort. We arrived Sunday the 12th and left yesterday, the 17th. This was my first trip as a DVC member, I had visited once before with a friend on rented points. (It was love at first sight and I bought my resale within a month of returning home)

What a wonderful trip! I think the CM's (and I) were in particularly good moods because Ivan turned away and they didn't have to deal with a third hurricane in such a short time. A lot of the CM's I talked to mentioned damage to their homes. The insurance adjustors and home repair people must be working overtime, almost everyone I talked to had some damage from Charley, including my limo driver, Sid from Tiffany Towncars. I always ask for him, he's a honey. As always he was waiting for me at baggage claim and off we went.

I was worried that supplies would be short because so many online reports were saying locals had bought out the stores in case Ivan did hit. But Sid assured me all would be well, and when we stopped at Publix the shelves were indeed full. We used the shopping list I always bring and within half an hour we were on our way again.

We got to BWV at about 11:30 AM and the cm's were particularly friendly and warm and we received many a welcome home. Not only that the room was ready, woohoo!! Actually I had high hopes it would be, as it was evident a LOT of people canceled in fear of the hurricane. The plane going to Orlando was emptier than I had ever seen (I always take the same flight), about half full. The captain even made an announcement that we were free to change seats and stretch out more if we wanted to.

I was slightly disappointed, as I had requested a Luna Pool view (it was preferred ressie) and they only had quiet pool. It wasn't that big a deal though, and I was happpy with the room we got. It was room 4095, it overlooked the quiet pool, bbq and community hall. We could see the Tower of Terror and some lights and lasers from Fantasmic! from the balcony. We learned if we walked down the stairs just outside our room that it would lead us right between the luna park pool and community hall. We used both extensively. My kids were awed at how much room we had compared to the standard room at the Poly they were used to.

Our luggage was delivered promptly by yet another cheery cm. The 1BR was the same set up as the one I had in May, with the kitchen on the right as you walk in, master bedroom and jacuzzi to the left. (Hey does anyone besides me like watch TV while soaking in the jacuzzi? I think that's so cool, LOL) It was nice to have the same orientation as last time, so I felt right at home. The balcony was covered and one of the nice sized ones that spans from the LR to the BR. Everthing was in perfect working order and clean. The only thing missing was a frying pan, which was delivered within 5 minutes of me calling.

The pool was clean, as were the hot tubs--one thing the I always missed having at the Polynesian, I LOVE hot tubs! Transportation was fine, one afternoon we waited about 15 minutes for an MK bus, but that was the longest, most waits were 5-10 minutes for all modes of transportation. We walked to Epcot most of the time, to MGM half the time (some days were really hot and the boat was a welcome relief).

Two minor negatives: I did not like the Atlantic Brewery food at all. We tried salmon, pecan crusted chicken and chicken caesar and it was all quite mediocre. Since the prices were no bargain I won't be going back there again. I thought Spoodles far superior and it's fun to try and share the different tapas.

The other negative: The staircases. Maybe I am being picky, but they do tell you to use the staircases, so it's not like they are supposed to be only for workers. Yet they look like they are a workers-only type area, the steps all dingy and dirty. I'd like to see them cleaned up.

We used communty hall a lot, my 14 year old and I were in there most every day playing air hockey, ping pong and foosball. What a great perk, I never stayed at a WDW resort that had those things for free. Dishwasher and Washer/Dryer were in fine working order. It was great to do the laundry in the Villa and come home to put everything away clean instead of having piles of dirty clothes to do.

I'm not going to give an extensive "what we did every day" report, sorry, just too darn lazy! I just wanted everyone to know that things went smoothly at BWV, all was in good shape and there were no major problems whatsoever. I will say one "non-DVC" related comment--the parks were EMPTY and I mean EMPTY. You could walk on Buzz lightyear, Test Track, Splash Mountain, Peter Pan's Flight, etc. at 2 in the afternoon all week up until Friday when things got slightly more crowded, with perhaps 10 minute waits for the really popular rides at peak times. They weren't bothering to even issue FP's, there was no need to.

Particular kudos to BWV CM Fernando. I don't know if anyone here knows him, but he was really great. I asked to see his pins, and he not only showed me his lanyard he produced a huge ziplock with about 30 pins for me to look at! I ended up trading three pins with him. And it seemed every time I walked through the lobby he was there smiling and waving to me.

Next trip 118 days and counting, hooray DVC, I am sooo glad I joined, it really does feel like home when I am there.

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :flower: :cloud9: :flower1:

I'm glad you had a great trip with your daughters! Happy to hear that BWV is in fine shape after the two storms that went through recently. I'm sure all the CM's and others that live in the area were relieved that Ivan passed by without too much impact in the Orlando area.

By the way, I'm not overly impressed with the food in the Brewery either.

Your report make me impatient to go, my next trip is November. Thanks for posting.:)

Great trip report -- congrats on the new home :)
Sounds like you won the "Ivan roulette" game (poor floridians) -- I'd LOVE to walk onto test track sometime. Thanks for the update.

Thanks for the great trip report! Glad to hear you had such a great time. We are staying at BWV in Dec. for the first time. We have some down times, so we'll have to check out community hall!

I hear you on the Jacuzzi! My favorite is to soak in the tub with a Pina Colada and watch the resort TV channel!! Pure heaven:p

You are very lucky to be returning so quickly!! Thanks again!

Nobody who posts such a long, detailed report could ever be considered lazy! Thanks for sharing - it helps to make the time before our next trip go faster.

Best wishes -

Glad you had a nice time. I agree the stairs could use a cleaning. If you get a survey card to fill out you might want to mention that.

Have a great time in November MJTinNH! I'll be going in October next year, but I missed F&W this year, it's one of my favorite WDW events, enjoy!

Tennesotans--Yes I have to say I was extremely lucky weather-wise. We were prepared for the worst, and expected horrible rain and wind at the very least. I couldn't believe the storm passed us altogether, it rained exactly 3 times on 3 different days for less than half an hour each time. If anything it was too hot and sunny for my liking a couple of days--but of course I am NOT complaining, better that than a hurricane any day! We just took breaks from touring at the hottest times of the day, besides we don't like to stay in the parks from sunrise to sunset, always nice to go back to the resort and (literally!) chill a while. Yes, not to torture you, but we did indeed walk onto Test Track more than once, it's one of our favorites. Hope you get lucky there too sometime, unless we get there at park opening we always need to use FP for that attraction.

Definitely do check out Community Hall in December Hezzie, it's a really nice bonus. Not only are there the games I mentioned there are 3 or 4 (forgot exactly) free gameboy machines also. And if you have young children there are a slew of activities that go on all day long for the kiddies--making t-shirts, sand art, pool games, etc. Some (like the tshirts and sand art) have a nominal fee. I hope your family enjoys BWV as much as mine does. It takes a little getting used to, as IMHO, the shape of the resort makes it hard to picture in your head how to get around. I had to take the map with me for my entire first trip and half the time on the one I just took. I was used to the Poly which has a much easier layout for my poor muddled brain. But about halfway through this trip it clicked for me and I finally understand my way around and the most direct route to things. BTW it's nice to find another jacuzzi/TV watcher, and yes ITA, a pina colada will make that even better, I will try that next time for sure. Have a great trip!

I forgot to mention in my OP that we went to Fantasia Gardens mini golf and had a blast. Only trouble was the CM's were in disagreement as to the best way to get there from BWV, but it turned out to be really easy to find. I almost forgot I had printed the directions to FG from the allears.net site, but then I remembered and used them, they were perfect. If anyone wants to go who is staying at BWV, go over the bridge leading to the Swan/Dolphin and turn left towards those resorts (NOT a right towards BC). Continue straight until you come to a road (it will be very obvious and there is a crosswalk). Cross the road and FG is on your left (tennis courts are on right). It was a quick 5-7 minute walk and well worth it, very cute and very creative mini golf course. We played the "regular" (translate to ez) course, there was also a more challenging course for "real" golfers. If you have an AP it's half price for you and 3 guests. Since full price is only 10.65, it's a real bargain.

Thanks a lot for the kind words CarolMN. I guess my report wasn't as lazy as I thought, but compared to some people's totally detailed reports with photo links and day by day moment to moment descriptions, etc. it seemed a little lame. I appreciate your taking the time to say mine wasn't that bad. I did take a lot of pics, in the next few days I'll get around to uploading them and post a link.

And last but certainly not least Lenshanem--Your trip reports are Fabulous!

Thanks for that great report. As I sat here reading it, I realized I missed that place a whole bunch! :)

DH and I were "home" this past July. It was his first time there since we purchased in 1999. He absolutely loved it!!!

I'm sitting here thinking "how am I ever going to manage NOT going next year???" Due to some "major" purchases coming up, we thought it best to skip a year and head back down in 2006.

Well....:sad1: I guess I'll just have to be content and read all the great reports until I can post my own again! ::yes::

Great report! Glad to hear the parks were empty. I hope they stay that way through next week when we will be there!

Yes, I've also heard the parks have been empty. I hope it is that way in a couple weeks!

Great report -- thanks so much!

I was just curious if you heard any noise from the pipe replacement that's going on. I guess it's only on the second and third floors, and only in the corridors, so you may have been far away from it all.

We'll be at the BWV in 10 days and we're taking a brother-in-law who has never been to WDW. He thinks I'm crazy for going four times a year. I'm hoping he's going to "get" it. :)

Hi Dotti,

When we walked down the staircase between the luna park pool and Community hall we could hear and see the guys working on the pipes on the 2d and 3d floors a couple of times. On both occassions by 4PM they were gone. When I was in my room I didn't hear them one bit.

Good Luck with BIL, and even if he turns out to be a non-convert don't let him ruin it for you! Have a wonderful time, let us know how it goes.
:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Glad to hear you had such a terrific stay at BWV! Thanks for the great report! :D

wdwsos - We just got back from BWV in #3019, third floor studio. If there was pipe replacement going on, we never saw it or heard it!
Agree with the staircase comment - yucky.
Will try to post more later. We were in BWV from 9/15 -9/20.
