Well, you wait all year for that magical vacation and all of a sudden....POOF! it's over. :(

But we had a great vacation at the Boardwalk Villas. I'm a DVC Member and for the first time, I requested and got a view of the Boardwalk from our room. And....the room was ready early!!! :) This was especially nice since it was pouring rain when we checked in last Saturday. Room 2041 was directly over Goodings, the Grocery Store on the Boardwalk and you could basically see everything. It wasn't a bad walk at all from the lobby. Since we were on the same level as the lobby we didn't have to use the elevator except to go to the pool.

The room was nice; nothing broken or worn. We even had a DVD player with the VCR which we didn't have last year. The only thing that I was just a little disapointed with were the balconies. One had this puddle of water that you could see was there for awhile. It was starting to "mold" but I called Maintenance and they took care of it right away. With the mosquito problem there I didn't want standing water by our bedroom. And the other thing with the balconies was that they were the "wall" version. I would imagine since we were on the second floor, for privacy they couldn't use the "slatted" version that I just love. I use to love to sit in the morning and drink my coffee and just watch the people come and go on the boardwalk. Other than that the room was great.

Utilized the boats or walked to Epcot and MGM. Took the bus over to the Magic Kingdom for an EE morning. And even though the first bus arrived packed; there was an empty one right behind the one that left us.

We ate at Le Cellier, San Angel Inn, ESPN Club, Chef Mickey's, Spoodles, Beaches and Cream and various fast food spots throughout the World. Personally, I think we paid more this year for food than we ever have in the past. I know it's WDW and it is a vacation. But when you pay $113.00 for 4 people for lunch, well that's a little high. But hey; next year I'll do things a little differently.

If anyone has any questions please don't hesitate to ask. I can talk about WDW forever!!! :) I'm even planning the trip for next July!!!!!

Hi Linda,
Glad you had a great trip to BWV. We stayed there in June and it was fantastic. I don't remember our room number, but we had a perfect view of the Community Hall and the quiet pool. This is the location we were hoping for because we travel w/2 DS's ages 4 and 9 months and we were worried about the possible noise from the BoardWalk. How was the noise, by the way? We have fallen in love with the whole villa instead of hotel room, and we absolutely love the BW area, so I'm sure we'll be there again next year- either BWV or BCV.

Hi there! Thanks for posting your trip report!

Was curious about the $113 lunch and the statement that you'd do things differently next year. Can you elaborate for us that are coming upon our trips? Would love to hear your insights!

Thanks!

GlennandAnn - I personally don't find the boardwalk area that noisey when I have the door to the balcony closed. Even when it's open, you'll hear the "bells" from the surrey bikes and some noise. But quite honestly, when that door is closed I'm fine.

BurleyGirl - I've always found the prices of food in WDW to be high. But since it was "my vacation" I didn't want to be bothered with "cooking". What we use to do, was eat a light breakfast and lunch and then have a nice sit down dinner. Well I had read somewhere here on the boards, that if you want to "save a little" eat lunch at the restaurant. The menu is usually the same but the prices are lower. Well that's what I did! :) However in all fairness, I didn't mention that dessert was included in that. That does bring the bill up considering some of the items on the dessert menu were as much as the entree! :) But next year, well, maybe I'll do some light stuff in the kitchen at the resort. That's what I say now. :) And as for the desserts....if it's something you just must have, then have it. If it just something sweet after the meal, well there are so many places all over the place where you can get something "sweet".

Sure I say that now. Let's see what really happens next year! :)

last trip, was dh & I actually shared some meals. I used to think it was embarrassing to do that, but we are not huge eaters and this has been working for us. Or ordering just an appetizer instead of lunch/dinner.

PoohBuddy - no more construction going on. That was the first thing I noticed since the last time we were there the place was covered in scaffoling.

ez - I like the idea of sharing. You'd be surprised as to how many people do that! And I never thought of just ordering the appetizer. Then dessert!!! :) There are just some days when you don't feel like an entire meal. And the portions are not skimpy at all there.

Nice to hear that someone had a nice vacation somewhere great!:) - I know what youmean about the meal cost though:eek: -still better than cooking:smooth: Never thought of trying the Boardwalk personally. We have young kids and thought it might be too 'busy'.

Hi there! Welcome back!

Glad you enjoyed your trip. We'll be going to the BWV next year for the first time (it's our home resort). We have a BW view. Is there anything particular to request? Were the 2nd floor rooms dark? Did your villa have seperate balconies, or one open one?

Thank you!

Was your villa equipped for the handicapped? I think that's the room we had in Dec (I should look it up...)....actually we had the 2br lockoff with the studio next door. The bathroom had a roll in shower and the kitchen had the low sink with leg clearance under it.

Yeah, the walled balcony kind of keeps you from seeing the sights while having the morning coffee....but I figured it was safer for my adventurous 3yo! Even standing on the chairs no more than her head could see above the wall!

Are there regular ovens in the BWV one bedrooms? I heard there weren't. This will affect my meal planning.

Thanks!

The one and two bedrooms have complete kitchens with full size stove, dishwasher and frig.

Ok, let's see...

The room wasn't dark at all. Very bright. It wasn't handicapped equip. It had a regular shower stall and sink. And yes there is a regular oven and a microwave. It's a fully equiped kitchen. And the villa had 2 balconies; one off the bedroom and then the one off of the living room.

As for the view. You can "request" a Boardwalk View. But you really don't know until you check in. But I did request it and when I checked in I asked again if it was available.
It was a beautiful view; nicest I've had since becoming a Member.

I'm counting the days until I go back. Am I obsessed???? Not me! :) :)

Thanks for your post. I started thinking over the weekend about renting points to stay at either BWV or BCV for our January trip. With the outlook for AP rates not being so promising it might be a great way to experience another deluxe at a great rate!

One thing I am curious about-can you request things like non-smoking or highest floor possible? I usually get guaranteed non-smoking because of DS's allergies/asthma-do they allow you to make similar requests with DVC?

Did you use the Luna Park Pool?

Sounds like a terrific trip.

FYI, they changed policy a few days ago. Now you book boardwalk or garden both in the preferred category so you know at res time what the view will be.

I keep a room report chart, would you mind telling me the room size

Thanks
Sandy

Karen - You most definately can request non-smoking. As a matter of fact, when you make the ressie specify that it's needed for a medical condition. I always request and get non-smoking. I usually request "top" floor, but this time I got the 2nd which was just fine.

Sandy - I sent you a PM yesterday. But the room size was a 1 BR unit. And thanks for that information about the "requesting". I thought I saw something about that yesterday when I was scanning the boards quickly! :)

I looked up our room # from last year....it was 2047...so just down the hall. We were right on the corner and the 2br was a handicapped smoking optional villa.

Sandy, can you send me a copy of your room report list. I would love to see it. You can email it using the link below. Thanks.

Bill
