Just back from6 nights in a 2BR at BWV. We had a wonderful trip, but thought I would warn others to make sure they let housekeeping know asap when there are inventory items missing. We did not knwo we were missing potholders until we were ready to pull a frozen pizza from the oven. The lady in housekeeping didnt know they gave out potholders! DW ended up burning her fingers and a bathroom towel before they finally arrived. Later in the week when making spaghetti, we realized we did not have a can opener. Housekeeping brought one up right away.

Take inventory when you arrive, to save yourself a lot of trouble!

Who steals potholders and can openers, anyway?

The same thing happened to us in Sept, 2001 at OKW. We were pulling lasagnes out of the oven and "no potholders". We ended up having to use towels and got spaghetti sauce on them. We felt really bad about this.

We just returned 2 weeks ago from another trip to OKW and did not have this problem. I did take inventory when we got there and we had all that we should have had.

This is indeed a good idea!

Probably the same people who leave trash in the hallway and let their kids run amuck!!!

Many timeshares have you do inventory on checkin and they may charge you for things not noted on such. Several DVC members have expressed reluctance about doing this saying it was too much work and too away from the magic. This seems like a reasonable reason to do the inventory, at least you know what you don't have, what you need and can then get it before things like this happen.

I believe that potholders and such 'cloth' items get dirty then tossed in the laundry and not replaced.
We had a missing light bulb from our refrigerator at OKW 2 years ago. My sister reached in to find if it was loose and got zapped. When the young lady from maintenance came she tried the same thing and we all yelled that there was no bulb. She said that sometimes an item is missing from one unit and a CM will just take it from a nearby one rather than go to the trouble of getting a new one.
We have noticed missing items too. One item that is always in short supply is small juice glasses. A one bedroom should have 4, a two bedroom should have 8. I have found none to 6 or 8. Who wants plastic juice glasses?
I used to blame 'renters' who wanted a DVC souvenir, but now I'm not so sure. By the way I always check all the lights for burned out bulbs as soon as we check in. It is such a pain to find that there is a missing or burned out bulb when I want to read or embroider.
During our recent stay at BWV I read the inventory list. Coffee was available but no tea bags. A note instructed us to call housekeeping for tea. My friend and I drink lots of tea so we always bring our own. It also listed salt and pepper as a staple but there wasn't any. And the inventory has changed since we became members in 1992.
