I have to report that my stay at BCV did not dissappoint. The room was sooooo sweet, immaculate, what a beautiful job the person who prepared my room did. It was studio 161. You could look up and see illuminations, had a garden patio, near the railing and the water where you can see the allagator and large turtles.

out the front door was the back door exit to dunes cove pool. This location was soooo convienant, I was so tired of elevator waits after staying on 3rd floor at BWV and on the Disney wonder.

This room was the example of what I expect to find at my home resort. I was thrilled. the housekeeper even folded the paper towel edges neatly and the tissues. Just like a model.

Kudos to the housekeeper !!

BWV was another story. My studio was not ready until after 430 and I waited while the maid and maint. workers went in and out of the room. They gave me the number at 4pm. There must have been a partying slob in there before us. The room had been abused . It was non smoking, and it reeked of smoke. All the cleaning did not get rid of the smell. When you opened the cabinits, you got nauseated smelling the smoke. They said the refrigerator was filthy. When I moved in everything had been changed and cleaned, but the smoke lingered. When I checked out 5 days later the smells were almost gone.

That was the bad news, but there is a silver lining to every cloud. I did not dare ask for a switch because the view took my breath away. It was room 3059. Huge patio over the wyland gallary, with center courtyard view and boardwalk view.

By the way, no body warned me that when you have the coveted board walk view you are restricted by the amount of sleep you can get. Every morning honk honk wakes you up. Those friendship boats are always on time. Who needs alarm clocks.
And my son said mom, Im trying to sleep and all I can see is flying fish flying fish flying fish flying fish , I told him to count fish.

I had a wonderful trip , but Im glad the majority of my points are at BCV, with the prime location and peaceful setting, it truely is a slice of heaven.

Thanks for a great report! We're going to the BCV's for the first time in January, great to hear such glowing remarks. You know, I always wondered what it would be like to have the boardwalk as your view, looking up to them, it just doesn't appeal to me, looks very noisy from all the activity down below. Oh well, to each his own I guess.

I really enjoyed your review, Felicia! We're going home (BCV) for the first time in December, and I can't wait.

Pat

99 days and counting . . . again!

Felicia....glad to hear you had a great trip, and that you didn't allow that smoked-up room to ruin your mood! :)

I'm sure that we will hear from others who say the noise and the lights from a BW View don't bother them. It's like so many other things...one person's hearing noisiness and another person's feeling that they're right in the thick of things!

That smoke smell is something I hope to avoid...though I'm sure at some point we'll end up with a room like that. If so, since we tend to go for 9-12 day trips, I'd gladly pay the room change fee for a clear smelling room!

Great report! We will be doing something similar next summer (1 nt BCV, then 8 nts BWV, then 3 nts BCV again!) I had been asking my dh should we or shouldn't we go for the BW view... we decided we'd rather have the 3 extra days at BCV. Someday we'll try BW view -- I think it would be fun, as I'm a real people watcher!

HOWEVER -- after reading your comment about the "flyingfishflyingfishflyingfish", I had to LOL :p -- that is SOOO something my own son would say! And as we will have 4 kids with us in a 2 br, believe me, I need those kids to SLEEP! And 1 son is definitely a light sleeper, so sound level would be an issue.
I think we'll be happy enough with our std view next summer... BW view can wait until another time! (Besides -- we get those BCV days with the pts we'll save! :) Oh boy! )

I will say too that you're a real trooper to stay in the room with the odors left behind. I can take ANY view, be it flying fish, parking lot, or dumpster, and still have a grand ol' time... but I simply could not handle the smoke. It's such a shame that people can be so inconsiderate and feel somehow they're entitled to trash a place. :(

THanks for the report!!

I'm new to DVC and have a question. If you request a non-smoking room, especially b/c of health reasons, they will charge you a room change fee? How much is that fee? That's the first time I heard this. I have asthma and can not tolerate smoke at all. :(

Don't fret, they bend over backwards to accomodate folks. My Mom has asthma and could NEVER stay in a smoky room. We've never had a problem and I know they would understand if you explained your dilemma.

It's all perspective. My bedroom is in the frontof the house with a bright street light and cars flying by all of the time. I can't sleep when it's pitch black and quiet. :)

2059 was a dedicated studio with the childs daybed. I had 2 studios, that were dedicated, the other was 2054 across the hall with Luna pool view. 2054 was fresh smelling, and my sister and family were there.

I am returning to BWV in a one br standard this Feb. I think the standard room may be right for my family. I also think the Boardwalk activity is ideal for a winter trip, when everything closes a bit earlier.

I think I will make BCV with stormalong my summer spot, and BWV my winter spot, being they are both my home resorts.

Yes. and No. I saw no scaffolding, but the models are still in the crest building, and they will be rehabilitated soon and converted into villas.

The entire Crescent lake front of the Beach Club Hotel, was covered in scaffolding.

Anyword on what will become of the DVC Sales "storefront"?
I assume this area would not be villas as they open right on to the Boardwalk.

I did not ask. I assumed they would be villas. There is a porch area there, maybe they will enhance the area and make it an enclosed boardwalk patio..
