We just got home from our first trip home to BWV and we had a wonderful time! We loved our 1 BR and how nice to have a kitchen. Had a standard view room which had a fine view and saw the fireworks of Illuminations every night from our room!

We usually had done early entry, but kids did their homework in the room this time since there was no early entry.

Walked past the carivan of characters since my kids had already gotten the same characters autographs in the parks. (It appeared that younger kids enjoyed the caravan. Usually 4 characters were there.) My kids still had about 30 autographs in their books but enjoyed doing other things this trip and often wanted to do a ride rather than get an autograph.

Parks were MUCH LESS crowded than usual. Went to Fantasmic 15 minutes before show time Thursday night and got a seat! Walked right on many rides/attractions or had a short wait, but noticed parks were more crowded closer to the weekends. In general, on any day crowds were less than usual since we have always traveled during the same week for every trip.

I wish I was still in Disney, in fact my daughter actually cried the day we came home. But now that we are members I find it was much easier coming back home since I know I will soon be planning our next trip!! What a wonderful feeling actually knowing we will be going back each year!

If anyone has any questions, I would be happy to answer them!

Were you affected by the renovations at BWV? I would appreciate any info that you have on the types of renovations, where it is going on, and how it may impact guests, BWV views, etc. since we are suppose to stay there in December.

Thanks!

hi: we just returned last monday night. as far as renovations go, they are replacing the carpeting in the halls. they were working on the fourth floor the week we were there. there is scaffolding surrounding all the villas facing the quiet pool and community hall. maybe that will be done in time for your visit. all the decorations should be up by your trip. they were doing some of the outside decorations when we were there and have the lobby trees and decos up. i think any vacation disruptions will be minimal.

Great to hear that a standard view might not just be the side of a building! We've got a standard view 1BR for the first week of June. I can't wait. It will be our first visit to BWV. We are VWL owners.

We were not affected at all by renovations. It appeared to me that they were working on the roof and part of the siding. Saw the scaffolding, but never actually saw people working....It seemed that were they were working wasn't blocking anyone's view.

Have a great trip! We will definately get a standard view room again!

Thanks for the info.
I feel better about staying there during the renovations now. :)

How is the pool? We were there 9/10 when it closed for renovations. Wondering how it turned out.

It was our first trip to BWV and the pool was great! We swam several days and kids loved it and the water slide!

hi. we also just returned home from disney 11-18. stayed
at old key west, no room at bwv. the christmas decorations
were great. no lines, good for us, bad for disney. seem to
get busy sat am. what room were you in to see the fireworks
at epcot? going home may18-27 2002. can't wait!!!!.

thanks tom from little rhode island.

We were in room 4117......really far from the elevators, but nice fireworks view over the Inn side at night. We aren't going back until next November. I'm curious how long the parks will be slower like they are now.....I guess only time will tell! Have a great trip in May!

7 days and counting.

Have a preferred studio at BW
and hope to get a view of Illuminations.

Thanks to all for the renovation updates.

Good to hear they didn't really distract many.

Looking forward to the holiday decorations,
it must be great - naturally for Disney.

By the way, are any of the BW pools heated,
or is that not necessary given the weather?

I think the pools are heated. We were in the Luna park pool in the evening and the air got pretty cool and the water felt good. It wasn't hot, but definately warm!

BW decorations appeared to be up when we got there on the 10th. ALthough we had never been there before the decorations were lovely and even tried to get some xmas card photos! We were used to the Wilderness Lodge where there were no decorations when we got there and one magical morning each trip we would wake up to that huge fully decorated tree in the Lobby!

Hope you have a great trip! I'm working on plans for our next!

The pools are definatly heated, we got cold going up on the slide, especialy if there was a wait, which was minimal. But as soon as you hit the water you were warm again. We went in several nights after the parks. Also hopped to SAB the first day (Sat) we were there, that is a beautiful pool, the kids loved the slide. Hopping was over from the 20th to the 25th. We also noted a steady increase in the crowds as the week went on. Also we were checked for ID on Thursday at the pool. Would also say that WL pool was busier than BW pool, plus the slide was open 'til 10 when we were there, BW closed the slide at 7. Unless they changed the hours for Thanksgiving.
