Just got back this afternoon - some observations. Studio was great, although some of the fabric furnishings on chairs, etc. could use a good cleaning or reupholstering. Our unit was on the first floor, extremely quiet, until last night. We were in a lock-off next to the one-bedroom unit. Never heard the previous guests. Last night, my husband had to call 3 times to Guest Services to complain about the "new" people. From the time we got back from Epcot - 10:45pm until 12:40am, there was loud music, crying, screaming kids, kids jumping off of the couch, loud TV shows, people singing, Grandma yelling at the grandchildren, "Don't you just love, love, love this room!!! a hundred times over. My husband and I thought we were in the twilight zone. These people thought it was 2:00 in the afternoon!! Finally the hotel manager on the third go-around promised he'd send Security again!! Silence 15 minutes later - Talk about clueless. Didn't realize the walls were so paper thin!! Used the Ladies' room off the lobby at Boardwalk, and was shocked at the stall door - what a wreck. Actual gouges and broken slats on the doors. Chipped paint, dirty wallpaper - definately needs some serious attention.

Saw the new Saratoga Springs units - beautiful!! Would love to stay there on our points next time. And they have a wonderful "food court" that's a little more upscale with gourmet pizzas, sandwiches, etc.. beer, wine selections. Very nice.

All in all, a great time at our "home away from home", but more timely maintenance needs to be done.

OK, where were your lime green Mickey Heads? And I hope DS never added to your noise (we were there 1/2-1/6). He's a music major and said he "had" to bring his trumpet. But he used a mute and never played after 9:00pm. In lock-off studios, I often roll up a towel and place it across the bottom of the door, like a draft guard, only in this case it hopefully guards noise. What view did you have? It was our first time in the BW view-awesome! Did you get to see the release of gas from Illuminations about 10:30? I thought that was neat!

No Simba - no trumpets last night were heard - only Barney sing-a-longs!! I wouldn't have cared if noise was at 8:00-9:00pm, but 11:00 on...bit much. My view was of road up to entrance to Boardwalk - it was nice - wasn't noisy at all. I've had preferred room overlooking the pool - very noisy...so standard view was just fine!! Sorry, forgot my lime mickey head... :earboy2:

I know that much noise at that time of night was annoying. My DH and I are fairly early birds and we would definitely have been disturbed :worried:
Glad the rest of your trip was great!

Thanks for the trip report!
Lisa :flower:

I've had noisy neighbors too - the one thing I dislike about hotels. How did you like the first floor? Thanks for sharing!

Our last stay to WDW (off-site) had a loud roaring party of teens in the room next door, constantly banging shut the sliding glass door to the balcony half the night when they weren't running down the hall to the friends' room. Ugh. I feel for you.

Hope you got up nice and EARLY and made lots of cheerful "good morning! rise and shine!" noises to your family. Should have invited the trumpet player in to your room to play reveille! :D

Just curious if you brought these maintenance issues to the management's attention?

OK, can someone explain the lime green Mickey heads? I saw a post on another board that said they laminate them and put their name and screen name on them, but do you use them a different way with your room? Do you put them on your door or something?

I want to be all decked out in our lime green when we arrive in 8 days, so any info would be greatly appreciated.

And for those of you who will be at WDW the 18-24, please come up and say hi! We're staying at OKW. I'll be a single mom pushing a red chicco stroller with ds5 and dd2 in tow!

They're supposed to be a way for DIS members to identify each other at WDW. Several years ago, DIS members were encouraged to wear lime green ribbon, but then Home Depot was nice enough to start offering lime green Mickey heads as paint swatches. People wear them on their backpacks, a lime green ribbon as a bow, I have a lime green Mickey head hanging on my lanyard. I think some people write their screen name on the Mickey head. However, I don't think the practice is done as often as I wish it was (I'd love to meet other DISers at WDW); in about 6 trips of faithfully wearing my lime green, it's only served for me to meet another DISer once. And I really had hopes on this latest trip-supposedly over 100 DISers and families were going to WDW in January. Please, remember your lime green!

Thanks for the clarification.

I'm adding it to my to-do list right now. I'll take the kids with me tomorrow (assuming we don't get any more snow!) to start the hunt for green ribbon and a Home Depot with Mickey swatches in stock (ours are always running low!)

When I have looked at photos of the boarwalk villa rooms I thought they looked in need of reupholstering too. Although the theming appeals, having a good quality nice cleanly furnished room is more important to me. I am looking forward to staying at Saratoga Springs too.
