Just back from BLT, a BWV lover's view.

We just booked BLT for our trip in Jan. We are really looking forward to staying in the MK area. Like the OP, we love the BWV and our home, BCV, but a change will be fun!

How crowded was the 16th floor? How early do you need to get there? Do you make reservations?

No, no, 16th floor is top of the lounge. The Walkway is the 5th floor on BLT side, 4th floor Contemporary side.

Not sure about the acutal lounge/bar or whatever it's called, but the actual place to stand and watch Wishes was not crowded at all. No need of reservations, though you have to go down to the BLT lobby and a CM will accompany you up.

We went twice last week. The first time the CM, who is at the desk in the lobby, took his job very seriously (as he should) wanted to see a room key for all 4 of us. I felt like I was getting access to the Pentagon. In fairness to him, I'm sure people will try to sneak their way up so he needs to be diligent. The second time was a young lady and she was more laid back. All she wanted to see was one key and I could have brought the Brady Bunch up and she looked like she didn't care. There is plenty of room up there (outside the lounge) and the music is very loud that is piped in. The lounge to me was alright, it has appetizers and drinks and the desk in the lobby has a copy.

In my opinion, officially, your friends from AKV will not be allowed AND in the spirit of not wanting to get flamed, they shouldn't (and I know you want to follow the rules too). However, the CM in the afternoon does seem to be the one at 9:30 and maybe "someting" could be worked out if it's only a few people. Either way, the BLT rooms are big enough to party with your friends and if you have a MK view, you'll probably might not even have to go all the way up.

Yes of course I want to follow the rules - after all I am a BLT owner myself!!
I do not have a MK view unfortuately as I have banked/borrowed points so that I could host 5 nights for all my guests. I could therefore only afford a standard view 2 bedroom for my family.
I wonder if it would be worth speaking to the CM ahead of time and requesting my 6 friends staying at AKV be allowed access. I am wondering whether it might be better to just watch from Citricos. I believe the music is piped in to the restaurant. I really don't know what to do for the best!!!!

You might be better hanging out at Citrico's. At least you'll have the drinks and food easily at your service. The lounge at the top of BLT is not really that big. The outside walkway part is big but not the lounge. The two nights I went, all the tables were taken inside the lounge already.

I think you're smart getting the standard view. I had a lake view and I had maybe 40% view of the lake which was nice, but would have liked to have the extra points in my bank now. No big deal though.

I think I have decided that it would be best to stay at Citricos
I guess that the fireworks will not be quite so close as they will be from BLT but I think we will probably be more comfortable and we won't have the worry about ourfriends who are staying at AKV

So excited staying at BLT in Dec and again in Feb, 2 bedroom both times. Dec with best friends, Feb with DD's family trip.

We are new members to DVC. Our home resort is BLT, we will be staying the week before Easter in a 2 bedroom Lakeview. From everything I have read and seen, it looks absolutely beautiful. I can not wait for next April.

Finally, plenty of room for a family of 5. My DH can not wait to have our on room away from our 3 DSs. And the Master Bath is to die for....
