Wanted to write a quick resort report for those of you who are going in the near future! :O) This was our first time at both of these resorts, and we stayed 3 nights at each.
Beach Club: Talk about a sprawling resort! Seemed like it took a long time to get to and from our rooms, but the friendliness of the staff and cleanliness of the room and resort grounds made up for that. Rooms were perfect size for our family of four. We ate at Cape May Cafe twice...once for a character breakfast with an ADR, and once as a walk-in for the dinner buffet. YUM!!! Both meals were spectacular!!! The pool was great...our kids thought the ducks swimming in the pool along with us was hilarious! Location was the best thing about this resort...so close to the Boardwalk, water taxi to MGM, and we walked to Epcot several times. Would definitely stay here again!!!
Polynesian: Check-in was a long process. We got a lady who was visibly not enthused about working that day. She could not get our room cards to print out, so she spent a lot of time trying to figure that out. She also did not give us leis. We were given a room on the first floor of Tahiti. After we walked over there, we had two tired kids who both needed naps. We were dismayed to find a horrendous jack-hammer noise constantly coming from 2 doors down from us for the first 45 minutes we were in the room. I opened up our first floor patio doors, and when I pulled the curtain back, a portion of the wall had fallen off by the patio door, and had been patched up with some type of gorilla glue. The bathroom was extremely dark, and I was beginning to regret my resort choice by this time. Finally after an hour and a half of the jack-hammer noise, my hubby called over to the front lobby and politely asked if they could move us to another building at the resort, and if they couldn't, could they please move us to another resort. Luckily they moved us over to Fiji about 45 minutes later. The funny thing was that all cast members acted like they had no clue there were any kind of renovations going on in Tahiti. We then settled into our second floor Fiji room. The resort grounds are pretty, and the monorail is nice...but I don't think it jusitifies the price of this resort. All I could think the whole time we were there was that it reminded me of the 1970's decor and fake wood-grain wall coverings. The hallway carpets in Fiji were absolutely filthy every single day, and when we left one morning there were 3 different pieces of wet receipts that were in the hallway by the elevator/ice machines, and when we got back that evening they were still there. O'hana's was a highlight for us, but Captain Cooks is much too small for this size resort.
We had a wonderful trip, but next time I will split my stay between the Beach Club and the WL. Poly is just not for me! :O)
