Just back from BCV...

Well, for one thing, I remember LOTS of damage from a hurricaine....seemed the roofs over at BeachClub were quite damaged and took a while to fix. I am no longer a BCV owner so can't really say anything about where my dues are going and how much is spent repairing stuff that is broken by non-owners.

And yes....I've dealt with snags in carpets, a toilet paper holder that seemed to have lost it's "spring", stains on counter tops....and never felt the need to come on these boards to B&M.

So, let me tell you about AKL.....it took Disney 3 days to find the culprit that was sneaking smokes on their deck. At the AKL!!!! Unbelievable that someone thinks it is okay to sneak smokes there. What is the matter with security that it can't find the smoker? Oh....and don't hang anything to dry on your deck....check for lots of little red ants before you bring the stuff into your room. And don't get me started on the blotches and stains on the carpets. Seriously!!!! Can't they keep these rooms cleaner? And lots of little cuts and stuff on the couch. Why don't they get replaced immediately?

Yep, that stuff happened...but no big deal. GWIM?
They are sitting on it. They cannot do anything else with it.

But when guests (any guests) cause these minor damages and do not report them so they go unfixed, people see these and get angry.

And new construction is new construction. They need money to keep DVC going. Our dues pay for the maintenance and that maintenance schedule is something like 12-15 years for a refurbishment. It's all in the annual report you get in December.

Wondering if members staying at other resorts can use the pool at the BCV. Last time I was walking around BCV, I saw a sign saying the pool was only for BCV guests?

Stormalong Bay (along with the other pools at YC/BC/BCV) is not available for pool hopping at any time for members. They stopped allowing pool hopping there about the time they opened the BCV in 2002. Other pools that are blocked from pool hopping include BLT pool, Polynesian pool, AKV/AKL pools, AoA pool and, of course Swan & Dolphin pools since they are not Disney operated. There are select times throughout the year when pool hopping is not permitted at any pool and these times are usually around holidays.

We were in 550 earlier this month. Other than outdated decor the room was in largely good condition. I was scared it was going to be as bad as some of the horror stories I read on here.

Right now, I am in Aulani, thinking about my gals trip, coming up in spring. I love Aulani, especially for all of the swimming options. It is a tough decision, but I have decided to keep my BCV reservation because of all the swimming options there. I love SAB, we bought BCV points because of it. I will tell my friends about this thread. Most of them have been with me, primarily in great villas in BWV and AKV, they know how great DVC Villas are.

I looked at the options opened to me to change, even various GVs. I cannot pull the trigger. I've used my precious BCV points for this stay, that's where we will be!

Thank you for taking the time to post your experience. As someone who's 7 month booking window is going to open up soon, I enjoy reading the reviews! This will be our first trip to Disneyworld. Our home resort is VGC, and we've stayed at Aulani. So, I have high expectations because I love love both of those resorts and I'm trying to determine where to stay. We want someplace that can keep up with the two DVC resorts we've been lucky enough to experience. For those people who think you are being overly nitpicky, ignore them, because you never know who will appreciate what you've taken the time to write.

How funny we just returned from our trip and we also had room 550. We were there from 9/8 - 9/19. About 6 years ago we had a bed bug incident at POFQ. Eversince then my wife meticuously goes over our rooms before we are even allowed to bring luggage into the room. She was pretty impressed with the cleanliness and condition of our room. I agree with disney_bob that room 550 is in pretty good condition.

Our main reason for staying at the BCV was to try Stormalong and we were not disappointed. We first tried the pool on our 3rd day and everyday after that my son would ask me at the parks if it was time to go back to the pool yet. Needless to say we spent at least 2 hours a day at the pool everday after that. They would always scan our Magic Bands as we entered the pool area and they would give us a paper braclet so we would not have to be rescanned every time we re-entered that day. Also if you were on the slide you either needed the paper braclet or had to have your magic band scanned in order to ride. I saw them turn away a couple people because they didn't have their magic bands on to be scanned.

Nice to hear Disney-Bob and WDWlodge about condition of BCV 550; thanks for posting.:goodvibes With so many travelers today, all hotels could potentially have bed bugs, so I too try to be very vigilant about trying to "check out" any hotel room for cleanliness before settling in with any luggage! :eek:We LOVE SAB as well! :beach:CAN'T WAIT!:hyper:

I am at BCV now in a dedicated 2br and have to say that we are very pleased with our room. A little wear and tear but nothing to complain about. We have owned here since it was built and have always been pleased with our accommodations. Room was very clean when we checked in and it was ready at 10am!

:thumbsup2Good to hear! 10 am is great for those that arrive early! Enjoy BCV and F&W if you are going for opening weekend! :cheer2:

I've got a studio booked for april 25th. it will be my familys first time going there, and are very excited to be staying in the Epcot area, and even more-so about stormalong bay. As of today, BWV is still available, but I am going to take my chances and keep my BCV ressie.

A 10am room ready probably means that the room was empty the night before, not the usual experience for others reading.
