Got back home about 8:30 this evening after a week at BCV. We had a 2 BR, room 554, overlooking the quiet pool. Room was in pretty good shape and very clean. This was a little different from our last 2BR in that the "guest" BR is separated from the 1BR section by a wedge shaped electrical room with the entrance very near the slider for the living room balcony. It made for a very quiet unit and the second BR seemed larger with a small vestibule area at the door. It also had a sofa and 1 queen instead of 2 queens. The doors to the master BR still baffle me and we lock the BR door and use the shower room door to enter the BR to save "embarassing" moments if someone is using the tub.
The weather was fabulous early in the week, rain on wenesday and light showers on thursday with friday and today (saturday) beautiful. Had a great time at MVMCP, wonderful parade and fireworks. We did Hoop de do after a 20 year hiatus and it was a lot of fun. We somehow got a table dead center with the performers right next to our table for a number (and a lap dance for me at the beginning of the show!!). I really wasn't looking forward to it but a great time was had by all and it's on our list to do again.
Dining was crazy- if you didn't have an PS (or whatever they call it now) you were often out of luck. I've never seen restaurants so busy. My wife was talking to a CM and mentioned it seeming busier than privious visits, the CM said it seems to be getting busy year round with special events and meetings to even out the crowds. All the restaurants were very good with our best meal at Artist Point and no worst meal (maybe Germany as a pun?). Only bad service was at Momma Melroses with no water/beverage refills, wrong entre served with no "sorry" like it was our fault. We heard another waitress ask someone if they wanted grated cheese on their pasta, and we all looked at each other ask why weren't we asked, and more importantly, why had we forgot to ask?
My wife and I stopped by the Dolphin on the way back from MGM and thought we'd try out a different place for a meal. We went to the Dolphin fountain and had a nice snack and dessert and no crowds! When the check came I had my DVC and DDE card and mentioned that I thought they gave a discount with one or both of the cards. Well the waitress looked at me like I had 3 heads, and said NO, all they take is credit, cash, or Dolphin room charges. I didn't want to argue as the bill wasn't that big, and I didn't have any benefit booklets on me and wasn't sure enough to be stubborn. The next day I stopped at a DVC booth (there are several around if you look for them
) and I think I should have gotten a 20% savings. I'm going to e-mail someone as soon as I figure out who, and suggest their staff be informed of Disney programs. Beaches and Cream is closed but I didn't notice when it was opening back up.
Soarin was great, Osmand lights were beautiful, and EPCOT fireworks were amazing. The Wishes fireworks at MK were also some of the most beautiful displays I have seen with amazing shaped displays.
I just downloaded some pics from my wifes new camera, a Casio EX-Z750 and all I can say is WOW! The colors are amazing and it's fast, with little/no lag between pressing shutter button and taking image. Anyone looking for a digital shoud check it out (I am not affiliated in any way to casio) as I am very impressed. I do miss the tilting display that my Nikon does but for a small package that can fit in a shirt or pant pocket I am very happy.
I'm a little disappointed in the transportation system as we had some very excrutiating monorail rides. One day at about 3:00 it took 45 minutes to get from MK to Polly, thats 3 stops away! They were only running 2 trains on the resort loop and then stopped everything for 15 minutes while I think they added another train. This was our third WDW trip with a rental car (after I think 12 without) and I don't think I'll ever do it without one.
After a slow start the trip was very enjoyable. We didn't do ME as we had a rental car, and all but 1 of our bags showed up at baggage claim. After waiting, filling out a claim form, having the airline call back to BWI to see if NTSB had it and calling ME to see if they had it (all calls of course were recorded messages requiring a message be left) we decided enough was enough. We gave them our cell phone nos. and they said they would call us when they found the bag. We were at the National booth checking out of the airport when the call came explaining that ME had taken our bag by mistake and was bringing it back. So we spent a few more minutes driving around the airport to pick up the bag from the ME guy who said to my wife "so I understand YOU lost a bag", where she said "I didn't lose it, you took it when you shouldn't have". I wonder how many other ME incidents have occured.
Again we had a great time and wouldn't have space to mention all the great things we enjoyed as they far outweigh the several problems we had.
