Well here is that terrible feeling you get when you're back home & write how your trip was:
BEACH CLUB GREETING
Art the Greeter was back in full swing with a smile wider than I-95. Gave my DS - 12 a hug and we wished him well. He said while he was in the hospital other patients would look at him with his smile and state "Hey - he should not be here - that bed should be reserved for someone that is sick!!"
REGISTRATION
No one at the front desk when we walked in about 1:30pm on 4/15. Waited about 5 minutes, gave up and walked to BCV where the new registration group happily signed us in but could not assign a room because (you guessed it) they have to call the Beach Club front desk to get a room number. They could not reach the front desk for about 15 minutes.
ROOM
Well prepared and clean (329 - garden view). Only three things - broken floor lamp, no internet cable and a slow draining sink, all of which were taken care of immediately when we called. Noticed they are now providing a brochure on the beds, linens and bath products for sale. They are putting on new roof tiles on BC and are working on the side of the building - all freshly painted - looks great!
SAB
Since it was cold in the beginning of the week (high 60's low 70's ) no one really at the pool. By Friday temp was back up to 80 and you just could not get in the pool without bumping into someone - and definitely not enough lounge chairs. My DS who loves the pool would not go on the slide or stay in the pool because he kept getting bumped by others.
PARKS
Unbelievably crowded!! On the first day we only got in 3 rides in Epcot. At 9:20am, Soaring had an 80 minute wait and Fast Pass has us returning at about 5pm - or about 8+hours later!! This was Spring Break for CT and MA.
Buzz Lightyear ride - DS managed to score 999,999 points - the max on the ride since he knows where all the 100,000 point targets are! Highlight of his trip!!
RESTAURANTS
ESPN Club - most fun we have ever had with live announcers. Decent food. 7 out of 10. Great Red Sox and Yankees discussion - half and half the crowd.
Mama Melrose - Worst Spagetti sauce I've ever had 2 out of 10
Yak & Yetti - Outdoors - OK Sweet & Sour Pork but the Chicken Fried Rice was tasteless - 4 out of 10.
Beaches & Cream - 6 out of 10 for hamburgers, 9 out of 10 for Strawberry Short Cake.
Rain Forest Cafe - 7 out of 10 for burgers, 8 out of 10 for kid friendly environment - 3 out of 10 for value ($85 for three hamburgers & drinks)
Boardwalk Bakery - 25 in line in the morning - we gave up waiting.
Total food cost of $364 for three of us for five days.
NEW CONTEMPORARY BUILDING
Took some pics from the WDW Ferry - seems about 12 stories now and they are adding what looks like two foot wide white strips at each of the lower 6 floor levels. Have not figured out how to attach a pic. The walkway supports seem almost 9 stories high themselves.
Good part of all of this is that we have to go back in June for a business meeting for 6 days. Made it much easier to leave this time.
